Wishing there was a website decicated to the Bespin guard, or a way to talk a member of the costume department of Episode V.

Ah, the joys of being a trailblazer with little or no references. Rolling Eyes

This is part of the work when doing lesser known characters, I'm afraid.

Watched Episode V for research, and noticed the headgear looked like a pith helmet. Will do a little web searching tomorrow.

Let's put up some pictures so we know what we're all talking about.

As a general rule, toy figures are not good reference pieces from my experience. The colors are often wrong and existing molds are re-used to make the process faster and cheaper.

In this case, the image of the original Kenner toy has a good reference pic from the movie.

The traditional "pith" helmet has a brim all the way around, but some of these look like there is only the brim in the front. It actually reminds me of the Devo hats from the 1980s. Laughing

Very high-waisted trousers, short jacket, and a turtleneck undershirt look like the basic pieces. The tall "officer" boots are the foot ware.

Hats are the hardest to re-create. I've been working on the Episode 3 Imperial Officer since the movie came out and only just completed a semi-accurate cap. And Phyllis never offered me any aspirin. Razz

lol...
doh'

Aspirin and Pepto for everyone doing hats!

Although...the Hoth Tech hat didn't turn out to be as bad as I thought it would be...BUT I had a deck hat that was similar that I could take apart and make a pattern from.

But...as always...
GREAT screen captures!

wow...you can really get a good look at things in those!

Awesome!!

You could have found them yourself. Just Google "Bespin Guard".

Ninety percent of costume research is finding good pictures.

Phyllis, even though the Ep 3 officer hat is slightly similar to the OT ones it was still a very difficult to do. And I still have a lot of work to finish it up.

But I am very happy to know that the tunic "S" curve plaquet is appliqued and not seamed. That was my guess from the pictures and at the SW Concert last Friday I was able to get nose-to-nose to the actual outfit. Very Happy

I had a feeling that the pieces in the display maybe changed during the tour. If not I will definantly get pics when comes to Philly.

The concert comes here in a week. If they have this costume displayed, I will see if I can't get some pics for you.

I don't know why you think that. It's easier to just have a set display and put out the same things.

Unless it was a really small venue that didn't have enough room to put everything out.

I didn't see this costume when Sunrider was at the concert. But they did have some interesting OT blasters.
