Well i have a few droids in the works, I live in Nebraska and am the leader of R2-Central.com. We have a great group of guys and gals that build Astromechs here in and around the Omaha/Bellevue area as well in Iowa.

As for full sized droids that I am building, this is what i have.

R2-CM
R4-ED
R3-PD
T3-M4
Scrubber droid
Mouse Droid
Bomarr monk
Gonk Droid

Go to www.R2-CM.com and look at all the pictures and videos I have up, as well as links to other builders.

The best place to start is to read the R2 Builders FAQ. It will tell you the basics you need to know to get started.

http://astromech.net/droidwiki/index.php?title=FAQ

As we tell everyone "Read, Read, Read" You need to do your homework.
There are many ways to go about building an astromech, and you need to explore your options and decide what you want the final product to be, and what materials that you are most comfortable working with, or will fit within your budget. Many have started out with little or no knowledge of building something as complex as an R2 unit, and now have a completed or well underway droid.

Yes Magnus, DW is right. Check out all the info before you decide to build. It is a lot of work. Wood work, welding, Electronics, molding, mechanics, etc.

Charity is great! That is the reason I built my droids. I can not read the Orange site you sent though, but I got the idea. Smile

Speaking of droids....

My T3-M4 MOVES! I just put a vid of it on www.R2-CM.com
