Getting all the stuff together to get started on a Han ANH belt and holster (with a lot of help from my Tandy store) and ordered a buckle set from Matt P. I'm very happy with the quality but I'm having some problems visualizing how all the pieces fit together. Matt didn't have any pictures of assembled buckles handy so I was wondering if some of you that have his holster could snap a pic so I have some idea what I'm doing before I go epoxying stuff the wrong way.
Thanks much!

Notice the slight bends to allow the buckel clips in a bit easier. Find yourself a solid glue, or Bond for the plate glueing... and your home free. I know allot of the belts I have seen have either been clips or screws. The clips that get blues to the main buckels that are slightly bent have a larger hole.. this is for the screw or fastening device of your choice... that is what attaches to the holster clips.

Hope this helps!

Bob

Actually, I'll just quote what he told me "The attachments can be welded on or you can use a strong epoxy like J&B cold weld. I use 3/8th" key post screws for clip attachment and small nickel domed or flat rivets that can be found at Tandy. "

Thanks, he told me that too but I'm more of a visual learner. I need to see it to understand it.

Bob, thanks for those pics, at least I know what back goes with what front now. I also now know I need to bend those pieces slightly which I wouldn't have known otherwise.

I still can't picture in my mind where it all fits together with the different size holes in the back pieces or with the previously mentioned screw posts so if anyone has pictures of the back of their finished buckle that would be super.

Ok as promised, here are a couple pics. Hopefully this will help. Don't mind the sportstape. I did that to keep the buckles from tearing the leather and pants up.

This is great! Thanks for the pics. Can you tell us where to get the other things that are on the belt, the metal circles with the holes in them? If I could find those I think I would be able to do this myself too. I too am a visual learner. Cool

I thought I saw Elvis Trooper, Obi1kenny, mention that he makes those metal disks.

Or maybe I was thinking of Vince from Corellian Exports.

I'm sure one of those guys does.

http://www.elvistrooper.com/disk.htm

It's about half-way down the page. I just found it on his website myself.

Kenny (elvistrooper) is. He and Matt are working togeather now as far as i know and you can get your completed belt from him with the metal disc upgrade now.
I think Vince at CE makes a resin copy, but don't quote me on that.

Thank you so much for posting those, that's a huge help. Congratulations on your Han approval! Hopefully I won't be too far behind you.

and now for the tough question...

What are the dimensions of the buckle pieces for ANH Han?

I could measure my Costume Base pieces...but I am afraid they are probably not to spec...

I think I know a guy with a laser cutter....

Wink

In doing research on producing these buckle myself, I have found that the costume base buckets are too small. The MP buckles are about half an inch larger all the way around.

I was looking around and have been unable to find the dimensions as well, so I'm hoping a repeat of the quoted post will find an answer. Smile

I've seen some posts around the Fringe talk about how some maker's belts are slightly off re: screen accuracy. Does anyone have the dimensions (or at least the most accurate that one can tell) of the buckles? In case someone wanted to trace it onto metal sheets and cut it up?

Thanks!

the best thing to do is take measurements from a screenshot or photo, bearing in mind that the belt is 2 inches wide.
