hey guys. got 2 events down in Dwight IL
#1 in another post
#2 Harvest day Parade.
I heard its kinda for famous having tons of basset hounds in the parade.
I was thinking maybe will could steal a little bit of their thunder

Date: Sept 20 Sunday

Time: starting around 12:45pm
I am going to try and be there around 10 or earlier..
give yourself plenty of time to dress...I dont know what to expect...
...

the parade will start at the grade school.
address for school: 801 S. Columbia St. Dwight, IL
parade route is about 1 mile

they said grade school would have a place to change. he is not sure about this...so be prepared to dress in parking lot...

this is a big festival for Dwight. Its all weekend
They really want a Vader,
I just talked to the corrdinator he was very very excited about us
he said they could work with us to try and get some kind of donation to Make a Wish Foundation
they are having a movie night on Sept 17,
I think thats where he was thinking of working on a donation.
he did look into donating money to the make a wish, but sadly he said they will not have it.

Parking will be at the school..or in that general area
the parade goes in one big circle so we finish where we start
they only want 2 vehicles....I am thinking "Skull one and the Mediacal frigate" if thats ok.
he wants the vehicles there by 11:00..if this is a problem..dont worry about it..welll just skip the vehicle(s).
also he said candy should be handed OUT not Thrown..

If you think you might need a Pilot or Han, I should be ggod to go in time for this event and would love to help out. Dwight is only about 150 miles from where i am in Davenport. Let me know!

150 MILES! are you nuts? I would love for you to come..but wow! thats a hell of a drive for a little parade. you are more than welcome to come if you want, ...this is my first time cordinating anything, I am really hoping for a good showing.
I havnt done this parade before so I am not sure what to expect. I would hate for you to come all that way for this.

Im hoping to make this one but I can't commit yet. I don't know how far it is for me but I am sure its not that far but I have driven 150 miles for a small parade before. Its sometimes great to see the smiles of faces in a smaller town.

150 miles for JUST a parade is one thing. 150 Miles for a parade, camaraderie with fellow RL’ers, good conversation, good times, and food and drink. Well that might be a little more fun and worth the drive. Due to work constraints, I may not be able to make the ANH showing, but the Parade is feasible. I will keep ya posted. Would love to debut the pilot or Han, so let me know which you would rather have. I think a pilot presence would be sweet…

after thinking about it.. we dont get to many "good guy"
face charaters..
Han might be cool for the people...I still like the pilot...
whatever you want to do is fine with me.

It was a killer good time...seriously...
Yeah...we could have done without the rain...
but to be honest...
I think I would rather the rain than 90 degrees..
besides...it stopped raining long enough for us to complete the route...
and everyone was all smiles when I left....got lost...and came back to the Church again!!
Thank you so much for organizing this!

Thank you also Mike for coming....it was soooooooooooo awesome to see that many X-Wing Pilots in one place at one time in IL! You get the long distance award! I hope you weren't terribly late....

The one thing about parades...
you simply can't control the weather...
nor all of the delays associated with them...
We have done enough parades to know that ultimately...
you go with the flow.

I will have photos up later today...my dial-up is really slow so I think I will load the photos to photobucket from the Library after work.

Great Job Tom (Crix)!
I agree though, would have rather had rain then 100 degrees!
