We have a wide variety of shades for this shirt. As Costuming Judge for this costume, any of the colors pictured are acceptable:

Did you check the "Where to Get Rebel Fleet Trooper Items" thread? Wal-Mart carries a blue oxford button-down that works great; I've used it for a lot of these shirts.

I just found a source for shirts while combing eBay. This shirt should be appropriate; I rolled the dice & got mine (awaiting shipment).

The compny's called {gasp} Imperial Textiles. They have a wide variety of sizes. Here's a link to one of their sizes:
http://cgi.ebay.com/NWT-NEW-SC10-RED-KAP-LS-WORK-SHIRT-BLUE-X-LARGE-XL_W0QQitemZ260390139483QQihZ016QQcategoryZ163528QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

From this same comany I also found [& ordered] a long lab coat & long sleeve Ts for the Endor commando (I'll have to dye them beige to meet standards...).

Hope this helps somebody

Tim

If you had ordered from the link listed in the "Where to Get Endor Trooper Items" you wouldn't have had to dye anything.

Shirt - Sand long-sleeved t-shirt
Jiffy Shirt Store - Gildan Long Sleeve shirts

Very true Donna, but considering that I got the t-shirts @ a really good bulk price & I planned on dying the lab coat anyway... I might as well do it all @ the same time... Very Happy

jumping back into the thread, the link for the Walmart Dickies shirtrs shows they only run to XL, my shoulders havent been that small since early High School. I have purchased an additional two shirts (the thrift stores here do not carry extended sizes) and I will try to dye them. Our walmarts stopped carrying Dickies work clothes a month or so ago, you can only get thier cargo shorts, the new Tshirt line and a few tan work shirts there now. Even the hardware stores that used to carry them have stopped carrying Dickies....not sure what is up with that.
There are many many blues out there, from Rit, Dharma and another one that doesnt come to mind right now, and I have tried all of these dyes.

Any dye suggestions for shade? I will give it one last try.

thanks

I can send you a scrap of fabric from the Navy shirts if you want to ask Dharma to try and match it.....pm me if you would like a piece of the Navy Chambray shirts..

also....I guess one would have to consider the starting color of the shirt as well...obviously...that will throw any dye off.

Rit has a very limited selection of blue..
so I would guess that you would have to use Dharma..
plus..
I think you would probably get some good information from them with regard to what would be best to use.

I found a bunch of plus-sized chambrey dress shirts on e-Bay; that's how I made the RFT shirts for several Sunrider members.

The Wal-Mart brand (George) has a button-down dress shirt that I've used many times when the Navy shirts weren't available. They usually have them in stock and in larger sizes.

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=10720740

Red Kap also makes a blue work shirt that could be used.

The problem with chambrey is that it is blue and white threads woven together; so you won't be able to get the mottling with dye.

This place is still showing 2-XL shirts:

http://www.omahas.com/product_info.php?products_id=2130

also...I don't think that shirts with polyester take dye well either...
I have only dyed items made of 100% cotton...and even then have had mixed results...

No, synthetic fabrics don't take the dye. I tried dying white UnderArmor brown and it came out olive drab. But the color ended up working out for me.

I did a search on "blue work shirt" on e-Bay and found some up to 6XL.

I just took liberty in going back directly to Imperial Textile's (under www.uniformsandlinens.com) website for thier offerings; in fact, you could make a bulk order (& cover any/all sizes) and anyone wanting to outfit a squad could buy shirts for just under $12 for a 12+ unit order. Here's that link:
