when making a lightsaber for this group do you only need the hilt or do u need to make a glowing led blade effect as well? |

You only need a hilt that you can hang from your belt. The Standards say nothing about having to have a lightsaber with a light up blade.
Though of course a light up blade is a lot more fun than just a static hilt. _________________

That is good enough for a Jedi costume. _________________

is it possible to built a accurate replica of Luke's ROTJ saber using the stuff from customsabershop?
I know I buy the LED and shaft, but can you also buy what you'd need to built one from "scratch" by assembling components? _________________ "But... it was so artistically done." -Grand Admiral Thrawn

you can come very close with modular hilt components from TCSS, but the deal breaker is the 'choke' at the neck (just before the emitter). the MHS part is close but its not exact. |

KOP is a respectable guy around the web.
Most of his sabers will take led setups, but some are solid props. |

ok,
first of all, sorry to ask such a simple question. I read the FAQs, but I can't find a direct answer to my question.
So I am building a lightsaber hilt based on bigyellowbox plan VI (the Vader style). I figure this is a nice entry level lightsaber that will be fun to make. So I brought the parts list to home depot and I was able to get everything except this:
Length of 1 1/4" PVC, 160 psi rated. He explains this about the part:
There are different types of PVC. The stuff you want is the thin walled type. Why it's called 1-1/4", I don't know. Nothing on it is 1 1/4". Just be sure to test fit it over a 1 1/2" metal tube before you buy it.
Ok,
so I went to home depot and Ace Hardware. Both told me I need Sch 20 PVC instead of Sch 40. Of course neither store carried sch 20.
the photo from bigyellowbox shows the pvc with the following written on it:
1-1/4 silver-line pvc-1120 sdr-26 pr. 160
Does this mean "sch 20." Normally PVC says sch20 or sch40 on it. I don't know what sdr-26 is. The "silverline" is the company that sells to Lowe's. There isn't a Lowe's nearby.
Can someone help me decipher this so I can clearly explain to the workers at home depot what I need?
thank you for your help! _________________ "But... it was so artistically done." -Grand Admiral Thrawn

For some reason, that size PVC pipe seems to be getting hard to find at hardware and home improvement stores, I don't know why.
I bought some, but that was 7 years ago. _________________

Loreen,
is it basically thin walled 1.5" diameter? _________________ "But... it was so artistically done." -Grand Admiral Thrawn

Basically. The Inside Diameter is slightly larger than 1.5". They fit nicely over the 1 1/2" sink tubes, but need to be secured, since they are loose around them. _________________
