Most of you know that I have created Yahoo Groups for the 4 major Trooper Costumes...

These Yahoo Groups contain tutorials, reference photos, links, and many other things.

I get asked from time to time about why Yahoo Groups...and why not an "all Trooper" website..
the answer is simple...
I have no skills for website building.
I tried learning simple website skills via the tools with my ATT - and...well...after hours of hair pulling I got like a couple of lines done...then later could not even find my own website back...lol...true story.

The Yahoo Groups allow computer idiots like me to accomplish certain goals without knowing much of anything.

There is no doubt that Trooper costumes are catching on...
and this is so VERY exciting...

Perhaps it is time for a All Trooper website?

For the record..
here are the 4 Yahoo Groups.

RFT:
http://movies.groups.yahoo.com/group/tantive/

Yavin:
http://movies.groups.yahoo.com/group/yavinhangar/

Hoth:
http://movies.groups.yahoo.com/group/icestationecho/

ERS:
http://movies.groups.yahoo.com/group/endorbunker/

Your thoughts?

and...

anyone out there a "webmaster" with a little time on their hands?

I am ok with staying with a Yahoo Group format...
There is a LOT of work contained in these Yahoo Groups....
sometimes doing a tutorial is actually harder and more time consuming than making the piece itself...lol...

I would be interested in knowing your thoughts...
and...
also would be nice to know if you used one of the Yahoo Groups and found things lacking therein...

I do have to re-do some of the tutorials because new information has been added over the last year or so...

I have had people that just don't like Yahoo Groups ....period...
I am not really sure why...
but I have received that comment on many occasions...

and..
the Yahoo Groups do have funny glitches from time to time...but they do seem to be on top of things because as the "moderator" - they send me a "heads up" on problems and that they are working to fix them.

For now...I guess we are ok...but the other thing about Yahoo Groups is that you do have a limited amount of storage and photo capabilities...which is totally understandable because the sites are free...
so...
I guess I can leave worrying about it to when I run out of storage on one of the groups...
probably Endor Bunker will be the first...lol...

And...
a heads up to all Troopers...

I have nominated Jim Egner for Costumer of the Year here at the Rebel Legion...

I honestly can't think of another one person who has had more impact on the growth of Troopers here at the Rebel Legion.

Before Jim....there was just a tiny handful...and I mean TINY handfull of Troopers...
there was NO ONE making stuff for Rebels that was affordable....
He makes the RFT buckets that mostly all of us wear...
He took the time to go forward with Endor donuts....
Endor rifles...
He graciously agreed to separate RFT buckets and offer just the com box and bucket to outfit anyone interested in Yavin helmets...

he is always willing to take on a new challenge and trust me...
when you factor in his incredible amount of time and talent in addition to materials for the prototypes, molds and finished product...he aint' making any money..

So should Jim accept his nomination and go for it for Costumer of the Year...
please make sure to support him because for us Troopers...there is not another more important costumer...

lol...commercial message over...

I think that's because you're not an Active Member right now, you're listed as a "Reserve". I guess your board access has been downgraded.

Jim has now been able to accept his nomination...

seriously folks...

Jim has had the greatest impact of all with regard to Trooper costumes...
The most recognizeable part of most Rebel Costumes is the buckets/head gear...
where a lot of us can work with fabric, leather and what not...the plastic pieces of the head gear can be difficult, frustrating and certainly something I never wanted to tackle. I was so VERY thrilled to be able to buy both the Endor donut and RFT helmet from Jim...I absolutely love them...

My RFT helmet has been dropped on concrete several times...kicked around....and utilized by hundreds of kids at charity events for our target shoot game...
it takes a licking ...
and keeps on ticking...
I wore it again yesterday...

The poll is up...

If you are undecided....

please support Jim Egner for Costumer of the Year for all he has done for the Troopers here at the RL...
