/\ What Lori said.

We're trying to make it easy to find the parts. Sunrider spent an entire year researching and gathering all the parts for this costume; the "Where to Get" threads are here to make it easier for everyone else.

As stated previously, the AN-H-15 summer flight helmet is THE exact item that was modified and used in RotJ. You can't get much more accurate than that.

I recently came into a real one, I left the straps on the back because the hard helmet completely covers them and I fold the brim piece up and under and pinned it under AND pin my little pleated strip to the top. so the original helmet is not destroyed and i can wear it under my x-wing helmet which helps hold it onto m'head.

So it is a pretty good price , they go for cheaper on ebay sometimes, and always buy larger than your hat size. But I would throw that link onto the sticky thread too in case anyone wanted to buy one.

Sorry for starting the belt pouches thing earlier. *sheepish grin* So, it IS possible to make the Endor mods without destroying the original! What did you do about the leather cheek flaps though? Did you just leave them off, or did you sew them on or something? That was the thing that has been confusing me while I contemplate how to make the Endor without destroying the WWII. THose flaps you have to add... I mean, does stitching two pieces of leather onto the thing really do that much 'damage' to the original flight helmet?

(Sorry if I'm stealing the thread here, should I start a new topic for asking all these questions? Neutral )

Sounds like I'm gonna have to try that then....I just ordered one and it should be here in a week or 2.

The standards don't state that you have to have the leather flaps over the snaps, just the ribbed section on the top, so most people do without.

I have a replica soft helmet, so I snagged a scrap of brown suede (that's what I decided to use) from my local Tandy that they let me have for nothing, cut out the shapes and glued them on above the snaps.

Huh, well, diehard for accuracy that I can be, I suppose I'll just suck it up and put a few holes in the AN-H. It's not like stitching on the flaps takes anything away from the original. Just puts a few little bity holes in it. Wink

Nice find Joe...

I will also put that link at the Yahoo Group.

I ordered my ANH-15 from a place that eventually ran out of them so it is nice to know that they are still available!
