Hello,

First post and it's a question Smile
Before, let me introduce myself a little bit.
I've been costuming for a little while but just stumbled on the Star Wars community through the Alliance Impériale (costumer group in Qc). I'm getting to know the big costuming groups like the Rebel Legion, the 501st, etc. I've just completed my second Star Wars costume and I'm having a little bit of trouble to see if it really fits with the standards here - I've got a different approach than most people to making my costumes and I want to confirm if it's going to pass or not.

Like the title says, it's about the Clone Wars Obi-Wan (the one from the new movie and TV serie, not the "original" cartoon network serie). I did most of the props for this costume (armor, belt, obi, etc.) in craft foam... but in some cases the standard really calls for leather - if the craft foam looks like leather, will it pass ???

an example: the belt
(I know the buckle needs to be silver, but I painted the thing before I read the standard - it will get repainted to silver)

Also - the Obi is not cloth... as you can see in the previous picture, it's stuck with the belt. Is this OK - or is an Obi assumed to be made out of fabric ???

The last thing I have questions about is the armor. As I said, it's all made out of either craft foam or camping mat foam. If you look at the picture I'm missing the mock neck collar for the chest armor - but everything else is there and knees are attached to shins and elbows are attached to forearms. Does the armor look like it's good enough for the standards (assuming I finish the paint job)???
Chest
Shins
Forearms

sadly, I am not an LCJ, but I have to say that I think it looks fantastic and I wish you the best. I've always found it more than amusing when standards for the clone war cartoon characters had specific material types listed in their requirements. They're freak'n cartoons...anyway, again good luck!

Agreed I'm not an LCJ Either but I'd say if not anything it's a good start.

Well thanks guys... really appreciate the compliments.

I agree with you Masterbean - but standards are there for a reason, to make sure the formal costumes of the Rebel Legion always look similar at the very least. I just hope we can "bend" them a little bit when a costume really "looks the part" even if it isn't made with the standards material types.

Oh, I know why standards exist and I agree with the idea of standards. I'm just saying to have standards for a cartoon character that specify what type of materials are needed...well that's a bit too far for me. Oh, I will mention that typically people get better information if they contact an LCJ directly rather that post it in the forums...I haven't figured out why yet, but they like to do all of that stuff behind the scenes.

Edit: To find the LCJ's if you go to the Jedi forum page, across the top under moderators there's a link to a listing of the LCJ's: http://www.rebellegion.com/forum/groupcp.php?g=7594
Hmm...that list doesn't seem to say who does what, but Bryanakin or the.rebel.agent would be your best bet...also here's a good site for all things Obi-wan: http://www.crazyoldwizards.com.ar/forum/default.asp

I wouldn't say behinfd the scenes. They do deal with a lot of things and sometimes just don't have time to browse forums looking for 'how does this look' type questions.
