Georgia State is wanting us along with the Ga 501st to help out at a basketball game to help bring awareness and funds for some their different non-profits they've teamed up with.

The big game they would want to push for would be the January 17 game against Townson, MS Night. The National Multiple Sclerosis Society will be at the game and a portion of all the ticket sales from the night will go to the MS Society. (www.nationalmssociety.org)

The only thing is no blasters or any other firearm type weapon.

They would also very much like to plan on a promo shoot with some personnel at some point to promote the event.

I'll post more info when it comes in.

Sounds like a good thing to me. Smile
My grandfather had MS, so I know how it is to have a family member with this kind of disease.

I'm interested, and I also posted over at the GA Garrison forum.

"Pencil" me in ... shouldn't be a problem, but it's the middle of my busy season, so once again, I'll need to confirm as it gets closer.

But by mid-January, I'll probably be ready to tear my hair out Bang Head shoot me, so a troop for a good cause will be something to look forward to! Smile

Daphne, if you REALLY want to faint... he's going to do a Jedi costume... Quinlan Vos. (Still dealing with those dark side "issues".... Laughing)

Glad to have you, Izzie, and I'll try NOT to tear my hair out TOO much. Wink

I'm going to guess that's ok. I think that was mainly for stormtroopers who carry "realistic looking" guns. I'm sure there some sort of "no tolerance for firearms" policy, it being a school and all. But I'll check to make sure.

We could tell them that it's a highly modifed flash light. Laughing

oh... that's a very good question! But I'll bet Daphne is right.

I was wondering why the Hasbro blasters were all blue and orange and gaudy (OK I'm not a Florida Gators fan... Laughing) when they could just as easily look more "metallic" (for plastic, that is) as the lightsabers do.

Then it occurred to me that it keeps them from looking too much like a real weapon. Duh.

The Halloween festival at our local mall said "no weapons" but there were all sorts of lightsabers and pirate cutlasses brandished without any problem.

Ya...but he's a Jedi that, even tho working for the Republic, served as double agent undercover working for Dooku and DID assassinate people....I'm good with that kind of scum :-P (and i get to wear leather pants).

Technically....you're right-ish. Sabers were initially made out of Graflex flash guns (and other camera parts)...it's not like you'd be lying. I'd still check though, b/c there's also the innate fear of pipe bombs & the like.

I think I can make it. As I am still learning the ropes I need to know if I need to email or call anyone. Also I need to know if lightsabers will be ok (hilt only or FX style). Ben

If you're interested, you can click on one of the registrations at the top of the thread (marked -I'm game OR Maybe OR Can't make it) You can always change your status if you need to by clicking "unregister". That gives us an idea of who can make it and who can't.

Oh, and I think the hilts will be ok, I'm still not sure about both saber and hilt. I don't know how much "room" we'll have for those. I would hate for someone to bring their FX and be all crowed up and knocking people in the head. Laughing Believe me, I've done it before. Laughing

Well, as much as I'd like to be there (esp being an alumni of GSU) I'm not going to be able to make it. I'll be driving back from Tampa the day before and then driving back to Tampa the follow Monday. Confused

Beth
