Hola I have a question regarding the rebel tech helmet, for formal (when I turn 1Cool I was planning on doing the unique rebel tech helmet with the black comm.box and chinstrap. would this be formal? Also I am ordering a csstom Tech. helmet from Mr. Jim for a "starting" and informal helmet and I want it to be glossy, how would I do this should I use a clear coat, or should I use like plastic was or w/e they call it?

Phyllis, the Trooper Detachment XO, just finished her Rebel Tech. She did the black comm box on her helmet. I won't be doing that, on mine, it will match the helmet.

My RFT helmet is painted a light gray, which is what my Base wanted to do. I actually used a spray-on liquid auto wax to make mine nice and shiny. Or find out what the Storm Troopers use on their armor to keep them shiny.

As Lori indicated...
the black com box is optional...
I kinda liked it...
so I went with it...

the new standard that we are working on states the following with regard to the Rebel Tech:

Rebel Tech helmet -

Unique white or gray with white, gray or black com box

Jumpsuit/coveralls -

light gray, light tan, beige, off-white, light taupe
4 large cargo pockets in front on the bottom,
two half moon pockets or zippered pockets on top
one cargo pocket on right sleeve with flap
one pocket on left sleeve - no pocket flap
sleeve cuffs with triangular closure
collar with triagular closure

Belt:
1 1/2" to 2" olive drab canvas or "strapping" belt with greeblie loops on left side or both sides.
Rectangular buckle

Boots:
Black - you don't see much of them so boot height is immaterial..but "smooth" and rounded toe.

Optional: Slash/half moon pockets at hip
Tools-for left pocket-
Silver "cylinder" greeblies in the loops on the belt
Hydrospanners
Fusion cutters
miscellaneous

Right now we are in agreement with these standards for the Rebel Tech...
so they should be chisled in stone shortly...
wanted to give you that heads up..

Very Happy

Most use a product called Novus...

http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=novus+plastic+polish&tag=googhydr-20&index=aps&hvadid=2348447401&ref=pd_sl_4b5hhi1jci_b

I use it on my armor too...
it works GREAT!

I honestly don't know about painted surfaces...

The Novus as I have used it (and others) was on "raw" plastic.

I have used it on my RFT helmet (mine is unpainted) and it shined it up really well.

A friend of mine used Novus on her black unpainted Tie chest armor...and it shined it up so nice...she didn't bother putting a coat of black paint over the black plastic the Tie pieces were made of...

and..
of course...
my armor is not painted either...it is just white abs

That's why I used an automotive spray wax, since my helmet is painted.

Novus actually works on Kylon Fusin and shines it up pretty nice with no effects to the paint. It also works on shining up my Don Post Tie helmet too, and that's unpainted. Very Happy

Now Novus does come in 3's.

Novus 1: shines and takes out very tiny scratches

Novus 2: shines and takes out minor paint scuffs and blemishes

Novus 3: The heavy duty polish. Takes out the hard scuffs and blemishes and still shines like the others.

IMHO....It's good to have all 3. Cool
