I don't remember ever seeing Stardards for this written up, probably because there aren't many people with this costume, and they are fairly simple.

I can't access the already written Standards right now to check, because all the old Links haven't been fixed since the Message Board moved back over to the .com site. jeez

Here are the Standards as I see them:

Yavin Hangar Tech

Required Items:

Coveralls, tan or gray, with added pockets and collar and sleeve
modifications like the X-Wing flight suit

Olive Drab web belt with buckle, loops and mini flares

Black Boots

Optional Items:

Accurate Helmet
Arm Tools

I'd make the helmet optional, because you don't see the Techs who are actually working on the X- and Y-Wings wearing them.

For the arm tools, you don't see them on the Techs without helmets either, but you see some at the Medal Ceremony, were all the Techs are also wearing helmets.

The coveralls have all the same pockets as the flight suits, including the comm pad pocket, even though there's nothing in it. Some Pilots aren't bothering with the 2 chest pockets, because the flak vest covers the area, but since the Techs don't wear the vests, I think these pockets should be mandatory.

I looks like the Techs also don't tuck the legs of their coveralls into their boots like the Pilots do.

I don't see a full compliment of mini flares on any of the Tech's belts, most don't have any, but I believe all the belts have the loops for them.

Am I missing anything?

I've started working on this costume, which is why I'm thinking about it right now.

So far, I have my helmet kit, webbing and buckle for the belt, boots, arm tools, and I'm about to get a 100% cotton white coverall that I can dye. I'll also buy some cotton twill to make the pockets from.

Thanks for pointing out the broken links, Lori. I've fixed them and they should work now.

Regarding the Tech standards, here is what the original standard was:

Quote:
Yavin X-Wing Technician

Required Items:
· Tan or Gray military coverall
· Olive drab, tan or gray belt
· Black boots or black shoes

Optional Items:
· White, hard tech helmet (RFT helmet without the swoop)

And this is the revised standard:

Quote:
Yavin Hanger Technician

Required Items:

· Light Tan, Beige or Light Gray military coverall with arm and leg pockets.
· Olive drab, tan belt for tan/beige coveralls; gray belt for gray coveralls
· Black boots or black shoes
· Tech helmet (RFT helmet without the swoop)

Optional Items:

· mini flares in belt

Even though some techs are seen without the helmet, they are all wearing helmets in the Throne Room scene.

I'd personally say that the helmet should be required as well, especially since the helmet is readily available. Not having it makes it just another jumpsuit. Arm tools and mini flares can be optional.

I think the coveralls should be required to have the "racing collar" also, like in the standards for X-wing pilots - it is the same coverall, only different color.

Generally speaking, for costumes such as this that are so simple, the standard for accuracy should be a little higher. There's not much to it, so what IS there should be dead on. Just my feeling...

I would love to see more people do these kind of 'atmosphere' costumes. Not a very glamorous costume by itself, but it looks great with a group of pilots! Throw in a few Dodonna-type costumes and some R2 units, and that would look amazing!

I'm sure everyone has seen this site: http://www.swtroopers.com/reb_costumes_rtn.htm
which Barn and I have been using to gather bits for this costume.

It lists the coveralls as 'cream'

Personally, i think they were white, and just have been dirtied up. This is evident in this screen shot:

http://www.swtroopers.com/reb_rtn/reb_rtn12.jpg

Under the collar and around some creases the bright white can still be seen.

The original standard listed them as "gray" but then we had a huge debate on color. There was even a poll ("Gray or Tan: What does your eye see?") where the consensus was a beige/very light tan.

However, since a couple of people already did the light gray, both light gray and light tan/beige/khaki/cream/whatever are accepted. Smile
