I'm a big guy and I am shopping for larger than 4x BDU pants for the RFT uniform. While I think that I can fit the 4x - I have been told that BDU are alot of the time tight or smaller than the listed size. Any help or suggestions for a source are welcome.

Quick Google and I found this company here on the interwebs.

http://www.vtarmynavy.com/bdu-cargo-pants.htm

They say they have sizes that go up to 5X. Might be worth checking out and see if they have the grey in your size.

It's been my experience that all the BDU's I've ever worn (and I've worn a lot, believe me) ran a bit big. Your mileage, however, may vary.

My Grey BDUs ran big for me and I get the one that was closest to my waist size.
You just need to make sure that you get the SWAT grey and not the LIGHT grey.
There is a difference in the color.
When I looked at the SWAT grey, they only came in sizes up to 3X.
You might just want to go online and do a hunt for 4x and up.

Try here:
http://www.battledressuniform.com/8525.html

or here
http://www.battledressuniform.com/8810.html
I am not sure what the difference is between the 2 but they have the larger sizes.
Good Luck

If you can't find a BDU pant in your size, you could always get a cargo pant in the correct color. It won't be exactly the same, but it will be similar.

hi all.
I am in the same situation. i wore BDUs for years and know how they fit, but that was a while back and sitting at this desk has done me no good.
Anyway I purchased a set of Rothco Ultraforce BDUs from OutinStyle and they were described on the site as grey.
this is the pair I purchased: http://www.battledressuniform.com/8525.html
They look more like stone.
I have not been able to come up with any of the light grey SWAT grey pants beyond 3X. By the same token I have not come up with an appropriate pair of grey cargo pants. I hit the thrift stores fairly often and have come up empty for light grey cargo pants.
By the same token I have a pair of shirts I got a the thrift store that I was hoping to make into the RFT shirt . I had to find the biggest neck size I could which means I got a fairl light blue shirt, not quite as dark as some as I have seen here. What is the call on the shade of the shirt?
Oddly my 3X black Rotcho BDU jacket fits fine and with some more pocket mods will look the part. I have the big parts of it done, just need to modify the front side as needed, collar and sleeves are gone and the big duck hunter pocket is added to the back.
I have a 560 helmet and his belt boxes and plan to paint the helmet grey.
Ill use my Engineer boots that I use with my TIE. So really for me the pants and possibly the shirt are the real kicker.
Any links or current sites would be most appreciated for sourcing pants!
Thanks

I made the same mistake with the OutInStyle "gray" pants. Barre's is the only supplier I've found that has them in the correct color.

I know when Sunrider did this as a group we managed to find some light gray cargos for some of our larger members; I'll see if I can dig up the link.

For an example of some of the shades of the blue shirt, see the RFT Tutorial in the "Where to get RFT Resources" thread at the top of this forum.

I found a light gray BDU pant at BDU.com:
http://www.bdu.com/F520138020.html

And here at IMS-PLUS:
http://www.imsplus.com/grey-poly-cotton-twill-bdu-pants.html

Here's a larger size cargo pant that would work in the Charcoal color:
