What is everyone using for belt boxes?
I have these Starbucks mint boxes I was thinking
of sanding them down to the tin and using those.
Any thoughts? Altoid cans??

Don't Altoid cannisters have rounded corners? RFT belt boxes should have square corners.

I use an aluminum electronic project box. I only use one of these.

Mr Bojangles makes some vaccumformed boxes:

As does Jim, now, who you got your helmet from.

Fry's has the type of box that I'm using, though that's not where mine came from. One of the San Diego guys at C4 had the ones from Fry's. I think he said they were $4-$5.

Maybe the Imperial Troopers boxes or different, but in all the pictures that I have seen it seems like the back of the boxes extend out a bit on all 4 sides about maybe a 1/4 inch or so maybe.

Me no like foil tape. Foil tape make Hulk angry. HULK SMASH!

Seriously, tape is my nemesis. With all the painting I do, you think I would have the hang of it by now. Confused Masking tape, I curse your maker!

Rather than the tape, just use some metallic silver spray paint. That's what I did.

Metallic paint and I don't get along well either. Some don't take handling well and I usually have to resort to more expensive buffing style paints (Alclad for example) to be completely sure it won't "gray up" with handling. I know people like Krylon silver with a top coat, but silver stuff always gives me trouble.

I like to complain. Razz

It took me like 4 years to get to the belt box project...I bought the boxes that long ago for my Imperial Officer costume...

..but I finally finished mine a couple weeks ago...the best part is...I can use them for my Imperial Officer or the RFT...

they are a bit too large I guess...

I am thinking about adding some accessories to my Imp officer. I thinki I will get these boxes for my Imp officer and have them double for the RFT, should I ever get that one done. I am all about using the same accessories for as many costumes as are appropriate. It's the best way to make it easier on the pocketbook, ya know?

Well, on the Imp Officer boards, there was talk about large Altoid boxes with Tandy belt clips (if you want to open your boxes for storing nerf darts). Radio Shack project boxes were also used with the belt clips, as well as metal project boxes.

I have all three (the TKJim ones, the plastic and the metal). When I finish building my belt boxes, I'll provide the pics of what they each look like in comparison pics.

I really don't care about this or that. I am going to use one thing to suit both purposes. I am leaning toward Jim because his prices are good and he comes highly recommended and I do like the quality of his work based on all the reference pics I have seen.

I've got Jim's belt boxes. I chose to paint them rather than the tape.
