Costume Base offers the Endor Helmets without the Donut as everyone may or may not know. I was thinking of using theirs with the Donut that I got from the run that was done last year. Does anyone know if they are acceptable and / or accurate enough? Is the top ribbing done right?

I don't find it bad. Great? no. Awful? no. Workable? yes. At least as workable as the CB X-wing flak vest is or the Rubies/DP X-wing helmet.

I have one. It needs work, but it is not garbage. Like was said, it is similar to the vest.

The ridgework on the top is set, it just needs some piping sewn into it. Some piping along the side seam would also give it the body necessary to have the crisp look. Use a bit of material to sew around the "ear" to give it the similar look to the AN-H-15. Finally, use a bit of cell foam to put in the ear.

My opinion would be to buy a World War 2 AN-H-15 trainers helmet. Cut the ridgework off of the helmet, add the piping and sew it onto the helmet. Also, use the visor as well. The coloring would be similar, and weather would erase any real differences.

2nd stereo headsets are a good source of doughnuts to replace those felt covered ears.
