I read the Sunrider members used a Pewter Grey color from Lowe's but that is no longer available. Anyone else have any suggestions?

I was going to say that, but didnt want to start the conversation Razz

I have left mine white, but if i was to paint it grey, i'd probably just go to the hardware store and look for a pale grey colour.

Maybe someone could post a photo of thier grey helmet that you could try and colour match to?

Ugh, this is not what I want to hear. I'm in Sunrider Base and I'm planning to do a Yavin Hangar Tech. I don't know what I'm going to use to paint my new helmet. Rolling Eyes

I had noticed that my Lowes didn't have that paint color anymore. I'd hoped it was temporarily out of stock, but I guess they aren't carrying it anymore. I'll have to ask my fellow Base members to check their local Lowes and see if any have a can or two still on the shelf.

As for your own Helmet, Joseph, have you found out what other RFTs in your area, who you are most likely to troop with, have done with their helmets? Paint it or leave it white? That's what is generally suggested, so that you'll match them.

I'm going to have to find my own alternative for my next helmet.

Most I believe leave it white. I ordered the assembled kit from Jim and the white just seems a bit "bright". I might leave it for now as I am still trying to get the rest of the costume done.

My wife went through all of the screenshots on three sites. The color is 50% gray. Perfect gray. This is even taking into consideration the white from the walls as well as the black of the vests. That is why it looks like the colors around it (white) because it picks up the color of the walls and seemingly blends to the naked eye.

What does 50% gray mean? Neutral

I think he meens, if you had white at one end of a scale, and black at the other, then the grey is dead in the middle.

Central Base has chosen "Dover white" as our helmet color.

My Take..........The Helmets were definetely an off off white . Or a VERY VERY light grey . NOT a pure bright white like TK armor . But the thing is this......consistency with others in your own local group is most important. Cool

Well, if I may suggest. Why not post the color recommendation of "Dover White" or whatever the most used color is, as a recommended part under the Requirements for this costume. That way, everyone will not show up to a mass group (such as if the RL is invited to another Rose Bowl Parade).

We can't do that because both white and gray are acceptable helmet colors. Also, as stated, the color used by Sunrider and others in 2006 is no longer available.

This was a HUGE debate and I don't want it starting up again. schrik

BOTH colors are acceptable for RL Formal designation. The general concensus is to go with what the rest of your Base is doing.

And LFL is not going to do another Rose Parade. Ever. Trust me on this. Rolling Eyes
