I did not lighten mine. The screen caps make the shirts look lighter then they are just like it makes the helmets look white when they are really
a light grey *ducks for cover*.

I always fight with myself if I want to do screen accurate or actual
prop/costume accurate. I decided to do half of both. I left the shirt
darker, but did not paint the helmet light grey. I may at a later date
paint the helmet but we will see.

Yeah, even though mine is probably 'technically' too dark, had I left it as-is it would've been too dark by far. With the Rit you can do it as much or as little as you want...

Well, after searching and searching for my size or "Very" large BDU shirts, I came across these on Evil Bay.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=160074368171&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=006

I just ordered one for my self but wanted to throw the link out in case others were having the same trouble.

The shirts can be found at any big and tall store so find that wasn't so much an issue. If the stores don't have them, ask for thier catalog as most catalogs go up to 10XL. Cost of those shirts however, can be a pain as your buying 2 and the dress shirts are pricey .

Now to find the pants in my size again. The last ones I found sold out by the time I got there. Hopefully I'll stumble across something soon.

That is the e-Bay store for Barre's Army Navy Surplus. That's where we get the SWAT pants for the RFT. There should be a link to their web site in the RFT Resources thread at the top of this forum. Smile

For larger sized blue shirts, a blue oxford works very well and you can get them fairly inexpensively at Wal-Mart or Target. When I did the larger sized RFTs for Sunrider, I found a lady on e-Bay who was selling extended size shirts; I bought six from her. Sometimes you just have to wait for the right auctions to come along. Thumbs up

I got the Dickie's Chambray shirts from Walmart Online for 14.54:

If you choose site to store, it is free shipping.

I used the "Rit Color Remover" also....

I used a bleach solution on one...it took too much color...and really smells of bleach....

I used it on our first batch of Delta Squad shirts to knock back the color of the blue...and it worked great...
I just needed to do it at max time that the box of color remover states...
and I did it twice with a new batch of remover solution.

If you are a member of the Tantive Yahoo Group...there is a PDF comparision of how much time the shirts were in the color remover at 15 minute intervals......and you can see the color change....

here is the long and the short of the file at Tantive:

This photo shows some results of putting
Delta Squad’s Rebel Fleet Trooper
shirts through “Rit” Color Remover and
compares the colors to my first shirt.

From top to bottom:

Bleach Solution
90 minutes of color remover
60 minutes of color remover
45 minutes of color remover
30 minutes of color remover
15 minutes of color remover
Shirt color as purchased

There was little change between 45 minutes
and 60 minutes. I started with fresh
boxes of color remover after 60 minutes
and you can see more dramatic reduction
of color between 60 and 90 minutes
with fresh color remover.

and here is another shirt source that goes to XL---
somewhere I found the same shirts at 2 and 3 XL....will have to find that link too....

So, you're saying that 90 minutes in the RIT would make it the right color?

Sorry for seeming dense, I havn't had my Chai this morning.

LOL...
right color?
That is something we will probably never know...
unless ....someone manages to pick up an original shirt...

Delta squad's shirts are mostly all the color of the second swatch from the top...
the very top is one I did with a bleach solution...

It is said that they used Navy surplus Chambray shirts...
if you follow the link to the surplus store that I posted ...
theoretically...that is the "correct" color...

but..
who knows for sure...

Wink

My take , just from looking at all of the high definition screen grabs....Is that the shirts are a Blue/grey color . Not a Light Blue per say .
But the main thing is this......The color should match your squad mates as close as possible .

Below is a good screen grab from ep4......Followed by the shirt that recently sold at auction . While the auction shirt was never PROVEN to be an Rft shirt. It looks pretty close to me . And the Colors are real close .
