I have heard stories about field training in Grafenwoehr from my Dad. He was a tanker in the U.S. Army and stationed in Germany from about 1977-1980 (Baumholder) and about 1983-1985 (Erlangen). It did not sound like fun to me.
My husband Ralf dyed the SKS chest rig yesterday evening. It took the dye very well, so it seems to be mostly made out of natural fabric. The dye does not work on fabrics that have more than 50 percent synthetic in it. The pouch belt is still damp so I cannot tell what color it is yet but it is definitely not olive green anymore. Ralf dyed it with the same dark brown ("Nuss-Braun") he used on the Czech M60 rucksack for my Battlefront 2 Tatooine Specialist but it looks darker as the rucksack. It is also not black like the BDU cap in the bottom right corner of the last two photos. The BDU cap in the lower-left corner is tan, the one above is coyote brown, and the one in the top right corner is olive green. The olive green twill band in the bottom middle is the same that I used to modify the SKS chest rig closure. The brown webbing is the same that I used for my desert trooper's belt.

Thank you for the compliment. The SKS chest rig is still a little bit damp. I am giving it another day to dry and will be sending in the new photos on Sunday.

I found another trooper that is wearing the SKS chest rig in Rogue One. You can even see the shoulder straps crossing on his back because he is wearing an open-back vest.
My SKS chest rig was finally dry when I got up this morning so we took the new application photos today.

My husband and I took a second set of application photos with a different set of pouches just in case the SKS chest rig does not pass muster a second time. I have a British M58 Water Bottle pouch at the back, an olive green Yugoslavian Mess Kit pouch on my left hip, and a French Triple Grenade pouch on my right leg. All three of these pouches can be seen on different troopers in Rogue One.

I heard back from my costume judge yesterday evening. The color of my dyed SKS chest rig is similar enough to the two troopers in Yavin 4 hangar that I am going to be approved. Now I just have to wait for my roster photo to get photoshopped so that it can be published in my profile.

Im making a Doopy-Pipe conversion, which will be full E11 size, They are definitely bigger than the toys/ nerf guns. I stretched my DH-17 by cutting it forward and aft of the reciever/ grip group, and added pipe in both sections to make mine about and inch and a half longer. Its still not right, but its a bit closer to full size.
