Starting my build with the impossible bit.
Managed to track down a helmet so now it will be sent off to a friend
Just having fun getting the tape off at the moment.

I have a visor the side bits and a mic boom on order from the states.

Next on my list is the soft parts.

Helmet parts have arrived and all the tape is stripped off.

Soft parts have arrived from Imperial boots.

Also found someone selling a U-wing chest box so that should be on it's way.

Helmet is at RAF Shawbury being repaired professionally before i hand it over to my friend for modifications.

A few more bits arrived including the U wing belt and ejection harness from imperial boots.
Flight cap is the right one with the leather side reinforcement panels.

Flak vest has also been bought from the same vendor as the chest box.

Progress:
Right looking at the pictures i realised something that i hadn't noticed before. Everything is cream.
The gloves and the flak vest are cream not white. So i have had to find out how to dye them. Turns out the secret is tea.
So both of them got dipped into a pressure cooker full of tea and a couple tea spoons of salt. I say dipped as the longer they are in the darker they get so a quick dip was enough to get that light cream colour.

Then everything had a going over with the dirty down brown and grey to add some grime in the mix.

Just waiting on the wrist comm pad before i suit up for the X-wing version to be cleared.

U-wing chest box should be on it's way soon and once it gets here i will be doing a review.

Need to get better picture in natural light. The flash turns the cream white again.

Update:

A tale of two chest boxes.
So i made a mistake. This mistake actually made my costume better but just so no one else falls into the same trap i thought it best to post it up.
The first chest box i ordered from etsy and it was a 3D printed one. Pictures looked good so i bought it as well as my U-wing flak vest.
The mistake i made was that they had a size option. Small or large. Me being 6 foot 3 thought in my wisdom to go for the large.
Yeah you can see where this was going, too large.
So thankfully at about this time a props page i watch was also doing a U-wing chest box and the looked good. So one quick PM later i have another on it's way.
It turned up and it was much more detailed and thankfully smaller, fits the flak vest perfectly.
Below picture shows the two.
Cospl88 one on the Left. Allen Amis Creations one on the Right

Suit up to show what i mean about it fitting nicely.
Ignore the belt i need to sew the buckle on.

Glove comm pad installed

I've never heard of Allen Amis Creations but I'm going to have to look that up, that chestbox of theirs you posted is a work of art.

U-wing helmet has arrived. It is gorgeous and stunning and i can't thank Darren enough for turning my helicopter helmet into a U-wing helmet.
Just for reference. Darren is Darren Langthorne from purgeworx props

Just need a visor for it but that is yet again going to be a custom job and i will wait till the new year before i start asking people about it.

Also the onions are on order and as with everything they are a custom order as the colours had to be inverted and the size adjusted.
