Well I’m finally back to it after summer break. I got the gators sewn and just have to install the grommets which I’m not looking forward to. I will not be going with a holster per the previous comments but I did want to check and see that the DH-17 is acceptable for carry. If so I’ll start modifying it.
One other question I had was the best material to use for the commlink strap. I reviewed the pics of the screen used one they had at auction and I can’t find a good match. I was thinking of taking some cotton webbing I had left over from my Scout Biker build and staining it darker with tea to get that tan coloration. _________________ Peter Holzemer

Does anyone know of a good 3-D print file for the commlink? I have a solid resin one that’s ok but I’d like to fine something a bit more accurate. _________________ Peter Holzemer

I think wrist com that I use for my Battlefront female desert trooper is quite accurate. It is from a guy on the Endor Rebel Commando Costume Armory Facebook page. He shared the stl-files for free last year but I cannot find the post anymore. Perhaps he deleted it because he wants to sell them now. Unfortunately, I cannot remember his name or you could contact him directly.
Since he shared them for free when I downloaded them I could send the two stl-files to you if you send me your Email-address via PM.

I just sent you an email with the two STL-files for the wrist com, Peter. I went back to the Endor Rebel Commando Costume Armory Facebook page because I wanted to find the post again and give the guy credit for his work. It took me over 30 minutes but I found it. The files are from Cameron Holly. He posted a link to his dropbox were you can download the files for free.

I’m working on my doughnut and I could use some help with the paint color. Looking at the SW Costumes book it doesn’t seem to be Olive Drab but a Dark green with the vent cut outs painted black. There’s weathering to it so it’s knocked back a bit. Does anyone know what the screen used color was? Appreciate the help! _________________ Peter Holzemer

Since the helmet and color of the clothing are one of the differences between the ERT and the DRT I will not be able to help this time. The colors of the ERT is the reason I never made one for my husband. I will probably make an EA Battlefront (2015) Bespin trooper sooner or later.
The RIAD forum is kind of quiet lately, I do not know if anybody with the knowledge will see your post and answer your question. If I were you I would try to contact people with this costume directly via PM. I would suggest contacting Terran S (Terran Stewart) or kman.
You could also ask your question in the Endor Rebel Commando Costume Armory Facebook group. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1567290883392672/ _________________ RIAD GRRRL-Squad-Leader 2019-present

I looked at every reference I could find, and ultimately went with more of an olive color. Specifically Krylon Satin Italian Olive, which seems to be one of the more popular options around here. I'm very happy with end result.
And remember... as important as it is to be faithful to the screen, it's also important to match what the people you're trooping with are using, because otherwise you'll be the odd man out and it'll look wrong even if it's technically closer. _________________

Thanks Kman! I’m sanding my doughnut to smooth all the print lines and then priming. Appreciate the insight on the color and the suggestion to try and match others in the Base. All I have left is the doughtnut, putting the grommets in my gators, and painting my commlink and I’ll be ready to submit. _________________ Peter Holzemer
