Full disclosure. I do leather work and will most likely end up selling these.
Working on a few custom belts, one with a very unique buckle. It is a USMC Dress Blues buckle that was chrome plated.

The question I have is the basketweave stamp, the small sample, too earthy? On dark belts it won't be very noticeable unless you get closer. |

The basketweave stamp is too earthly, yes.
The top belt array the smaller belt is rather tall compared to most reference. _________________

"Mace Windu episode 1", (for example), has a very wide accent belt.
if I had to guess, I'd say the accent belt is roughly 1/2 the size of the wide belt(?)
(so basically, if his 'wide belt' is 2.5 inches, then the accent belt is probably about 1.25 inches)
this is the widest 'accent belt' that I've seen in the screencaps.
meanwhile, "mythos obiwan" (for example) has a huge buckle...
but still maintains the narrow belt strap for the accent belt.
I think... if your intent is to use that wider belt buckle of yours...
then it would look better if you would pair it with a more narrow belt strap,
more like the "mythos obi-wan" example.
(this version of the character was made canon by the Star Wars: Rebels episode "twin suns")

Appreciate the comments. I agree on the wider belt. The way the buckle works it needs to be wide where it connects. I think I can cut it down so the visible portion is thinner.
I really want to use the basketweave. I may do it, even knowing it may not be accepted. It might still look cool. |

Sounds good, and by all means do your leather work the way you would like it, just understand without reference it doesn't fit well with how RL costumes are approved. _________________
