A while back, a few gals and I in my base started a group project for the Battle Handmaiden! After some ups and downs with fabric hunting, we found lovely fabric for the shirt, velvet, trim, and lining!

(I believe this is the same ribbon that Jenna is using for her current group build)

Some time ago, I started first with the short barrel version of the blaster. Itís the Rubies toy blaster with the seams bondo-ed and sanded, and the whole thing painted. Iím pretty happy with it!

Then we started on the mock up of the leggings/pants; Iím going to add a few inches to the top of the waist band so theyíre nice and high and the shirt wonít show if I raise my arms any. Bekah made hers already and they look great (and fit me too!) but we forgot to take a couple of pictures and I donít have my pants completed yet. (2 of the ladies in the group and I are sharing velvet so I want to wait to cut any of that out to make sure we do proper pattern placing Smile ) The boots pictured are also what I plan on using - theyíre frye boots that I found secondhand and fit quite well!

Weekend of 3/14-3/15:
Due to social distancing/self quarantining, I was able to knock out the shirt as well as the long barrel version of the blaster (which again is the rubies toy; I cut off the tip and used a thin wooden dowel for the barrel portion). My group ordered a stretch knit for the shirt which did present some challenges with pleating but I was able to find this stick on stabilizer that washes away with just warm water. It really saved my life and made pleating easier Smile I might make the sleeves a bit tighter, but for now, Iím calling this done.

(Pardon the emoji over my face! My hair was wild lol)
This is the stuff I used; available at JoAnns! You can use a dissolving marker or washable pencil on top of it to do your marking too Smile

Weekend of 3/21-3/22:
I started mocking up the jacket thanks to Jennaís pictures of the patterns!
First version was too big all around:

(Please pardon the social distancing hair lol)
Week of 3/23/20:
I started on the second mock up, which I think was much better after I took some in on the sides, back and front. Still needed some adjustments however.

Weekend of 3/28-3/29:
Only thing I did that weekend was dye the leather belt. It needs to be trimmed and the buckle attached (when I order and get it) but this is pretty much ready to go.

Belt blank and dye is from Tandy Leather.

Weekend of 4/4-4/5:
I didnít get a whole lot done during this weekend; seam ripped apart V2 and redid the pattern. Skirt was fixed thanks to advice from Jenna! Last thing I know I need to fix is where the shoulder seam is sitting. Itís really far back right now but this is getting there!

I lost motivation for a while but when I got back to it, I seamripped the jacket again and adjusted the shoulder seam. Now I just need to cut and re-sew the mock-up and hope itís works! Hoping to get to that either today sometime or this week.

Feedback is definitely welcome! Smile

Looking great. Smile Nice progress.

I'd just tell you to make sure you don't get drooping shoulders; the armscye seam looks a bit too far over the edge of the shoulder in your last mock up. Move it up a couple of centimeters and you should be golden. Smile (1 inch, I think, should do it).

I definitely see what you mean! However Iím unsure if that is actually due to my scoliosis or not lol; when I get back to the next round of mockups and Iíll keep an eye out for that! Iíll be sure to post pictures of the next mock up when that happens.

Yeah, drooping shoulders is something I look for, because it happens a lot unintentionally. XD
But yes; scoliosis sucks and will change how you pattern things to account for it. (Bernadette Banner is really good at this!)

Yeah it sure does but it wasnít something I had considered previously with pattern drafting so I will definitely keep that in mind! Thank you for opening my eyes to it.

Another minor update! Attached the buckle to the belt!

Although this belt is relatively simple, itís the first one Iíve made! Im pretty pleased Smile I just need to trim it to the correct length and punch the hole for the buckle prong, but Iím going to wait until I have the jacket finished so I can get the correct length the first time!

Leather is sealed, though I might do another layer of the finish just to be safe.

If my motivation continues to the weekend, Iíll try to get to working on the jacket mock up Smile

I am alive, I promise! I finally got around to adjusting the sleeve/shoulder seam and I think it looks pretty good! Please pardon my pandemic/work from home hair lol I know I need to add a little to the bottom of the sleeve in order to have some seam allowance for the lining

And with undershirt:

All thatís left on the jacket mock-up is figuring out the collar situation! Smile
