Hey everyone!
My name is Mike, 501st 90578 (ROTJ Vader & Imperial Staff Officer)
Researching my third costume and pretty sure it should be an OT Chewbacca!! I’ve been reading WIP’s on this site and following FB page and others for awhile.
I have some questions for all of you. Any answers would be greatly appreciated.
1. I want to buy a mask, not make one. I’ve been looking at this post on RL forum:
http://www.forum.rebellegion.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=66920.
It was posted in 2015 so not sure if it is still up to date. I’ve seen a lot of people talk about EvilChimp.
2. Sewing the mesh suit. Is there a pattern to follow? If not, how loose do you make the shirt and pants?
3. What’s the ideal height and shoulder width? How much height does a mask add (I realize it depends on which mask one has)/
4. What’s your working order for the build? Mask, lifts, mesh suit, hair, gloves/toes, bandolier?
Any other advice is appreciated.
Thanks everyone! |

Welcome Mike.
I bought my mask form Bacca9. She is both on here and on FB.
For the mesh suit I bought a pajama sewing pattern and used the XL pattern, traced it onto the mesh, and then cut and sewed from there.
Minimum Height for RL approval is 7 foot. You'll want your shoulders proportionate. I used a pair of hockey shoulder pads just to give me a little extra, but not to much. Chewbacca was a slender wookiee so you might not need anything.
I ordered my mask pre-built, so I started with the lifts first, then the mesh suit. As soon as I'm finished with latching my hair, I will work on the bandolier
Here is my current built

When I was looking for a mask maker, she was recommended, and I loled the way her masks look. She is also very easy to work with and keeps you updated regularly on the progress _________________ Aaron Darling

I’m starting to sew my mesh under suit and have a question! Does anyone have a pattern for the hair transition for an an OT Chewie? I swear I’ve seen some on here but can not seem to find them tonight |
