Hi all -

Never really had any intentions to go full-on outfit, but I had an FX lightsaber converted last year, and it all went downhill from there. lol

The next thing I knew, I was on my way to creating all three looks from ROTJ Luke.

Thank you for the various info I found throughout other WIP posts, and conversations I had with various board members.

I never set out for any approval of any sorts, but as I continued to work towards a finished product, I realized I was pretty darn close. I might fix a few things in the near future to actually meet all the standards, and thanks to this board, I know exactly what those are.

Anyway, without further adieu....here it is:

I know that some of the photos have items on that shouldn't be on for that particular scene...at the time of taking these, I was just messing around and wasn't going for 100% accuracy. I tried to upload enough photos that show all my parts and how they can be arranged properly.

As always, comments and suggestions and conversation is always welcomed.

Well done and good luck with it. Smile

Once you have the basic costume it's easy to make the variations to this. Luke basically wears the same clothes the entire movie. Wink

Hi ya!
That was something I picked up from Amazon about a year ago for only $50. It's pretty good, it gets the job done, but I wish it was a tad bit longer. I would've liked it to touch the ground, as it is, it's about mid calf.

I should really update these photos too.
I've done a lot of modifying to my build.

- Same wig
- lightened up my obi/tabbard to be more charcoal-ish and not jet black like it was when I got it
- sewed up the pockets and tightened the pants
- tightened up the "jacket" part too
- new saber
- weathered up the belt and buckle some more

These are more recent:

It looks great! Unfortunately the one I spent more money on might not work. I'm assuming the seam on the hood and the stitch lines ain't gonna fly.

Yeah I suppose that could go either way really....not sure where they stand on seams in the hood.

Where did you get it?

Your best bet would be to try submitting with it, and see what happens.
Also, can you remove those stitches with a ripper perhaps? Or are they important? lol

If they are merely decorative, just rip them out. Wink Or rip them all out and redo what is needed with a hidden stitch and in a matching thread. XD
Three parallel lines of stitches is overdoing it. Rolling Eyes

You Luke is great. What did you do for the vest and Tabbards? They look very good.

Why thank you. Smile

Yeah the Vest/Tabbards were a pain in the a**!

I rarely wore them when I first completed my build, because they were just all wrong.

I bought a Museum Replica set, and let me tell you, they were NO REPLICAS! lol

They were jet black, and the obi part was far too thin; you could barely see it sticking out behind the belt.

Here's a photo when I first got it a year ago:

(you can see it's actually DARKER than the shirt)

So I never really wore it. But I LOVE that look he has throughout the movie when he has that on, and the belt over it, like in the Ewok Village scene. So I went back to the drawing board.

I bought Fabric Spray Paint (in dark grey/charcoal/and black) and just began layering it on until the entire vest lightened enough to look better against the black of the shirt.

Here's how it turned out at first:

You can see it lightened up a LOT and even gave it that torn and tattered look that he had in the movie.

BUT, the Obi was still super super thin, as you can barely even see it in that photo. So I went out and picked up some terry cloth fabric from the store, and my tailor made me a quick and simple Obi, which I then sprayed and lightened to the appropriate matching color.

The difference is outstanding:

Side by side you can really see the difference:

It's a bit of a quick and simple fix, and perhaps not so "by the book", but when all put together, it does the part:

Here's a good photo that shows just how wide his Obi is in the movie, and also how "ratty" and worn it is.
