I've started interest threads before with very few responses but I figured I'd try again.

If I can get the rare Raw Silk weave type fabric for the Inner Robes for a Ben Kenobi / Yoda (OT Era) robes, would people buy it from me?

It would likely be in the $20 a yard range and will need dyeing by the buyers, but the weave is identical. I know that's expensive and yet people always ask me where I get my stuff. I can't stress enough that in order to get really accurate costumes you need to spend more on your fabric. This isn't a judgement on anyone because even I work within a budget, but I just like to keep people aware that getting results like mine means spending more.

Just let me know by replying to this thread.

Just for reference here are some shots of my completed Ben Kenobi. While the Raw Silk I used for mine was kindly provided to me by a fellow Legion member, I was able to source something almost identical.

Nathan, I'm still delighted with the Fabric I got from you. And can you believe that was almost 6 years ago already!!

For me, I wanted to do Old Ben and the costume as much justice as I good, so sourcing the fabric was an important part of my build. So thanks for getting in touch back then. I still feel good every time I put my robes on & do my best to be as much like Ben as possible.

Finally, I still get compliments on the quality and level of screen accuracy it has.

Hey Alan!

I'm so glad that you are happy with your costume and the fabric itself. Your costume turned out fantastic!

It's amazing how the time flies! I was first dating (my now wife) when I sold that to you. Man what a trip!

: )

At some point this year I will also be offering screen accurate belt buckles from brass, based on the measurements and reference photos kindly supplied to me by the curator of The Power of Costume exhibit.

Stay tuned everyone!

I got my fabric from King Textiles in Toronto Canada but that was several years ago. I would hope they still stock it. I didn't have to dye it at all.

I hope King Textiles still carries it, but unless you are in Canada they no longer ship outside the country and haven't for a few years.

My robe fabric was from King Textiles and Doug Cottrell was kind enough to pick some up for me (which I paid him for plus shipping).

Thank you again Doug!

Even then he got it for me about 4 plus years ago now and I doubt King Textiles has changed their shipping policy.

I was not aware they stopped shipping outside Canada. That is certainly unfortunate.

Yeah it's a shame.

Though this fabric I sourced is identical, it just needs to be dyed, and it's available here in the states.
