I've finally decided to build a Jedi costume, along with my wife (dipaul here on the forums, she's an approved x-wing pilot), and two little Padawan kits for the kiddos!
I've got both Jen's pattern and the other one from this forum, and a fair collection of materials.
Color-wise, we're just going to keep it basic for the most part. Brown IT, white/off-white everything else. I'll do the robe later (I found a good fabric for that, too, but it's pricey!).
I'm also going to make some braids for the boys to clip into their hair.
Anyway, this weekend I'm going to watch all 10 Star Wars films in preparation for the new one. That means I have lots of time to just sit around, so it's time to get started!
Pattern's cut out:
And I have lots of fabric choices:
I'm going to transfer the pattern to the muslin, size everything for the two of us "adults", and then use that to cut out the other pieces and sew it together. The kids stuff will come later.
I've also ordered some blank belt leather and buckles to make Style B belts, some cheap pouches from Amazon, and some food capsules from Etsy. We already have black boots and we'll just wear some basic pants. Oh! And we have lightsabers too, of course. |

Progress! Two inner tunics cut out, sized, and pinned (mostly). Also learned a few things to help us going forward.

Got the adult belts done! I'm waiting on some smaller chicago screws for the kids' belts.

Almost done with Diana's stuff, just need to sew up the OT (which is now all pinned together) and make the tabards/obi.
I took some photos of colors, although I'm worried how hers photographs. It's really a deeper burgundy/purple, but the pictures make it look much more red.
I also finished the kids' belts, and I cut out my oldest's OT, but I forgot to take photos of those. |

Laid some things out for my wife, before sewing/pressing everything.
But I just finished all the sewing of the tabards and obi, so she's ready to go.
And for the kiddos, Padawan belts!
Next up: finish my outer tunic, then my obi and tabards (which I've cut, but they need to be sewn). |

Test fit!
I need to trim the tabards in the back, obviously, and add some fasteners. but then I'm done!

Fun start.
One thing to watch out for is the tabards cannot be shorter than the tunic, save Ep1 Obi-One style which end in the back at the obi. _________________

Thanks!
I trimmed them to be even with the obi for that reason. And we've submitted!
Now it's just a matter of time (varying depending on other feedback, &c.) |

My wife is approved (and now has two costumes with RL)!
Still waiting to hear anything on mine (I'm not even sure it's been assigned to anyone), but I'm sure it'll come soon enough. |

Now I have to finish up the kids' costumes, I guess. |

Congrats! You rebel scum!
And for my own generic jedi: did you modify the pattern of the outer tunic, so that the sleeves are narrower? What width did you end up with? |
