I didn't like the prices either, so I acutally made a unitard out of white lycra, with a lining of white swimsuit liner. The pattern I used was Kwik Sew 3052 view A. I am very happy with the way it turned out.

@ Ewok78: what kind of fabric did you find? I saw the pattern recommended by Blue and it looks great. So I might give it a try.

@ Blue: Thanks for the advice. The only thing is, I don't have much experience in sewing yet. That was the reason that I wanted to buy the unitard, beacuse is looks so difficult to make! But when I find the right fabric I migt give it a try.

One thing to keep in mind if you sew lycra, use a ball point needle and a strech stitch on your sewing machine.

The cape is very easy to make without a pattern, it's just a half circle with a rounded hood Smile

Thanks for the information, BQ. I bought the fabric and "fur" trim today.

The fabric selection in Baton Rouge officially sucks. I couldn't find any white cotton polor fleece, anywhere. We only have Hancock's fabric, and the Hobby Lobby has a small fabric dept. Hancocks didn't have the fleece or the baby blue satin. Hobby Lobby had the blue satin and the fur trim...and it was half price. woot
I ended up with white "butter suede" for the cape. I used this fabric for my slave leia skirt in purple of course. I made a matching full length cape and lined it with gold satin. So this cape will be the same fabrics only different colors. It worked out well for the Slave Leia cape.

How long did you make your cape, BQ?
I was going to make a half circle out of the 60 inch wide fabric but that's only 30 inches long and it barely covers my butt. I don't think that's long enough. is it?

I measured from the nape of my neck to my knees to figure out the length. It seemed to work out alright. 30 inches is probably a little short.

My legs are long so my cape is also quite long (measured from my knees to my neck) Smile Mine came out to 40" ! If you want to make it longer, maybe put a seam in the middle back? A seam isn't a bad thing, I just happened to have wide enough fabric to avoid it.
Butter suede should be nice too Very Happy

I'm currently working on finishing up my snowbunny costume - and I'm looking around for boots, but unsure of American sizing - my feet are small compared to my calves. I'm about 14/14 1/2" around my calves - any idea what size I would need? Any help would be great.

How have others done the belt and pouches?

I made my belt and pouches out of a white vinyl I had from other projects. I made the pouch like I did the ones on my bikersout coustme, just altered the top flap and resized it. I can send you a scan of the pouch pattern I used tomorrow if you like. For the holster I used the simplicity pattern that was around a few years ago. It fits my blaster pretty well.

Beth, I would love to have the scan of the pattern you used for the pouch as well, please!

Anaria, what size shoe do you normally wear?

The only shoes I own with US sizing are 'Sketchers' - I'm always a US 6 in those. My calves are 14" (I ended up getting my jedi boots custom made as I have such a hard time trying to find boots that fit).

14" is big? I have 14" as well and have never had a problem getting boots here. If you wear US 6 than it will be the same for boots. You are so lucky to have small feet, I wear US 10 and its so hard to find shoes in my size lol. I got mine off eBay after a few month of searching for $35 after shipping. If you find something on eBay, write the seller and ask them what the calf measurement is Smile

I wear a US 6. Boots would be the same as shoes. I just measured my calf's because I had no clue what they measured. LOL My calfs are 13 inches. I can't recall having boots ever be too tight. You're just slightly bigger than mine. But, I'd do as BQ said and ask the seller or store for a calf measurement.
