Hi
I am trying to find the proper dimensions for a macrobinoculars. Is there a set size for them?
Any help is greatly appreciated. _________________ Brian S. Mah

Wow, are either of those actually approvable? I've never seen those before! I can't really tell about the second link, with only one photo, but the detail on the first one looks pretty darned good! Unfortunately, seeing the photo of a child holding it, it also looks undersized, to my eye.
There are some pretty good models available on Thingiverse, that I've been meaning to print at some point. You can probably pull the dimensions from those models. _________________

If they are licensed star wars toys then maybe they are rl acceptable? I haven't seen anyone really tackle the binocs before. I was happy to see that the toys had some real world dimensions in the description.
When in doubt... go with the toys.

Just because it's "licensed" doesn't make it RL acceptable. Lots of changes in toys all the time... in this case, I think size is the biggest issue, since it looks like they've been scaled down to child size. That's a shame, because otherwise, they might actually work.
(The second one, there's just no way to know. Someone could risk $40 to find out. The detail doesn't look as good, but it's hard to say from the one photo.) _________________

I saw one of those Star Wars Science – Optical Command Units in person once. It is undersized. It is made made to fit into the hands of children. The Star Wars Freeze Frame Slide Viewer is probably also undersized because it has similar measurements.
I would go to a place that sells binoculars and measure one that looks similar in size to the one that Luke uses.

That might be easier said than done. In the DC area there are not many places that sells binocs.
If we only had a standard to help with measurements. I guess this might be one of many...many requests.
It would be nice if LFL gave out dimensions of film props so they can be easily duplicated for fans who wanna do an original version, but within the dimensions of the original prop.
Anyone wanna volunteer?
Math is NOT my friend. :/ _________________ Brian S. Mah

IIRC the macrobinoculars were assembled from some real-world parts. I'd check over at TheRPF, where no doubt someone has painstakingly re-created a set from all the original bits, and there are likely some measurements in that build thread, too. _________________

I checked. No one has measurements. I might as well add my measurements to my binocs. _________________ Brian S. Mah
