I am 42 years old and Luke Skywalker was my hero as a kid. I have always wanted to do his costume but I am kind of a bigger guy. I ended up doing a generic Jedi as my first ever costume in the RL/501st. I don't wear it as much but the Jedi will always be my favorite heroes from the Star Wars universe.

I currently have my original Obi-Wan style Jedi and an Anakin style. The Obi-Wan is starting to show it's age being around 10 years old. The Anakin I never wear anymore after being called "the fat Anakin" during a troop. It really made me hate that outfit.

I kind of want something new but would love to still be able to do a Jedi. I wasn't a huge fan of TLJ, but I loved the way Luke looked at the end of that movie. The outfit reminds me a lot of his RotJ outfit but with a mix of dark and light colors. It really appeals to me.

I am thinking about starting this project. I want to make it as screen accurate as possible. I have some friends that can help with sewing and a couple who do leather work. I already have an ANH Graflex 3 Cell lightsaber that I made a while back. I can convert it into an ESB saber.

I guess the things I would need the most help with is the type of fabric used for the under tunic, tunic/hood, and then the robe/trench coat. Any idea on the best place to get a quality leather glove and what about the boots? Someone mentioned I can just get brown shoes and then buy WW1 Puttees, but dying them to match and all that has me worried.

Oh, and what about a wig. I live in FL and usually keep my hair pretty short. I kind of would prefer to get a decent wig that matches my hair color (which is pretty close to Luke's. Any suggestions on where to get a quality wig?

Anyway, any advice on this outfit would be greatly appreciated. I am trying to lose a little bit of weight before I start. I also want to wait until Rise of Skywalker comes out to see if Luke has any change in appearance. I am thinking about starting probably the first of the year and finally living out my childhood dream of being Luke Skywalker. I already started growing the beard. ;-)

This 2nd image is from the Sideshow Collectibles figure coming out later this year. While not "screen accurate"...it does show a lot of details.
