Hi all.

Putting together a Generic resistance pilot costume. Initially a Briefing room set up but later to complete pilot when funds and time allows.

Hopefully this will go a small way to erasing the extreme disappointment from a few years ago. I was cast to be a Resistance pilot in The last Jedi (due to my job) and when I went for costume fitting my flight suit wasn't there. The costume fitter couldn't explain why at the time and I had to settle for being an engineer. Turns out my suit was used to replace a damaged one for one of the main cast. Had a great time and a really amazing experience but I never got to live my dream of being and X wing pilot.

Thats me taking a sneaky look back at camera during that scene.

Cheers

Hi.

Yes agree the leg can be dragged down a bit. Need to use the leg flare strap to keep it down.

Not sure what you mean by the flares. Do you mean that you personally like to see them being worn upside or do you mean they SHOULD be worn upside?

Reference pictures show wide ends up and some show wide ends down. There is even a picture of a pilot wearing on the right leg.

Moving on to the rest off the full pilot build now.
BS Helmet donar ready for strip down and repaint.

Primer applied.

Main blue colour applied.

Lots of careful masking needed for the secondary yellow colour.

NIGHTMARE!!!! reaction between paints meant that the visor had to be stripped back to base to get rid of bad paint. Hours of fingernail scrapping!

Paint done. Decals needed now to finish.

Decals designed and ordered.

That's all really looking nice! You're doing a great job on the costume! Smile

And hey, you might not have been a pilot in the movie, but at least you were in a Star Wars movie. They could stick me in as a janitor that gets shot at the end of a three second scene and I'd be happy. Laughing

Looking fantastic! Did you sew your flightsuit yourself, or have it made? (and which vendor?)

Hi.

No I bought the suit from someone else who didn't want to carry on with the build. It was a custom build by

https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/XenaJoCreations

Jo also made my Vest.

I needed to have a lot of work to adjust the suit we were very different in shape. I got a wedding dress maker to do the adjustment as it needed a lot of seam work but the result was worth it.

Hoping to do the full dress tonight for final approval shots.
