Thought I would add yet another helmet to finish some day. SW Rebels A wing helmet. The visor assembly moves up and down.
The head they animated is extremely long and narrow, translating that to a real human head lead to a few differences in the shape and placement of some surface features, But other than that looks pretty good.
Compliments my other Rebels A/Y Wing. This has some accuracy issues that I will fix while post processing.

Dang, those are looking awesome!
Are you going to replace the visors with something more transparent or are you going to keep them looking more opaque as they are now? _________________ B-wing Pilot - Jedi - Resistance X-wing Pilot - Temmin "Snap" Wexley

I will replace the visors with mirrored see through ones. Use the modeled ones as templates.
The A/Y wing helmet needs to adjustments as the chin piece is too narrow and the brow part is not quite right. |

Been plugging away at a number of helmet projects. The Y wing helmet I have had to really do a ton more work than expected. Redoing the shapes of the brow, chin, cheek, and back parts as the model was really off.
Cheek widening:
Chin sculpting:
Brow:
.
Still working away on it. I plan on making a mold and making copies. |

Looking good!

UPDATE: With at least 10 helmets in progress, am running slow as all hell. But here are some pics of the ton of work needed for the Rebels A/Y wing helmet I had modeled by Prismpoint.
The shape is quite different.
I am going to mold this once it is done as the amount of sheet styrene, bondo, etc will not be conducive to wearing it. perhaps if I can figure out how to do it right I will sell kits or something.
I dont think that this is recasting, since I paid for the modeling, and have had to make so many changes it is not the original. I still have to line up the back and that will be a lot more work before the shape is correct to my eyes. |

That's looking snazzy.
And no, I wouldn't think that would be considered recasting. If you commissioned the model, you paid for the model, then the model belongs to you. If you've made even more changes to it then that's more of your work, which makes it more your property.
Recasting would be simply buying a helmet from someone and making exact copies of it. _________________ B-wing Pilot - Jedi - Resistance X-wing Pilot - Temmin "Snap" Wexley

More fun stuff:
Modeled and printed a new ear part to match:
Cut the grooves to match:
Done:)
Compare to the animated one:
Still not happy with a couple of lines that need to be straighter. Then one final groove that will be a bear since it is around the top part..... |

Still slowly working away but I think I am closing in on finally being ok with this helmet.
Redid the side squares, the brow, and the cheek areas since they were not correct.
I also have been learning to make molds, so I will be def be making a mold and copies of this. I have put a ton of time into it:) |

Very nice stuff.
Are you still working on the other helmet as well? _________________ B-wing Pilot - Jedi - Resistance X-wing Pilot - Temmin "Snap" Wexley

Yes I am. The U wing got set aside for awhile, I was focused on a SW animated resistance pilot helmet. In fact I am doing the whole line of them.
If the mold I did of it worked I plant to mold the U wing next.
Th Rebels A wing helmet in this thread, man it is a TON of work to sand out. The print I got is terrible. On a brighter note, I did find some reasonable visor material, so I got that going for me:) |
