Hi all,

Newb here from Minnesota. I've got a couple non-approved costumes (Jedi, Twi'lek smuggler), and I'm in the process of building a Temple Guard. Trying to have it ready for a local con over July 4th weekend. Please take a look at what I have so far, and let me know if you have any helpful feedback. Thanks!

Mask:

Skirts:
I chose a woven design for the overskirt rather than the quilted look, and I think it drapes nicely. Outer skirt is actually detachable with velcro, which will be hidden by the belt.

Bracers:
Finding gloves that fit was difficult, but I finally found some long driving gloves for women that fit well and matches fairly close. Didn't want too much extra bulk. The bracers are covered in moleskin, and are attached with magnets.

Boots:
Bought the cheap boots off AliExpress, and planning to paint them this upcoming weekend. I also have custom boots coming from Giovanni, but the cheap ones will work until those get here.

Keys:
3D printed keys off Etsy, planning to attach with leather loops on the belt.

Belt:
Getting some leatherworking help from a friend, but that will be the last piece needed to add.

More pics of the tabards and shoulder piece coming this weekend, need to add the symbols.

Hood:
scared of this piece. I am a novice seamstress, and I've heard that the seaming on the hood is difficult. Also, not planning to do a lining, since the CRL doesn't specify. Any advice on this?

Betsy

Updates:

Created the harness for the mask and added a little foam inside for cushioning:

Finally getting to the belt. Cut and dyed the leather for the main belt, and then found some matching upholstery vinyl for the lower belt and "flaps":

Created the buckle with foam and glued it to the metal buckle attached to the belt.. Its not laying quite right (looks lower, but its actually sticking out at an angle). Created the key hangers with some wire.

Hood and shoulder piece are done, but I don't have pics yet.

Still waiting for my boots from Giovanni, but I have some cheap boots I can substitute for my upcoming con if I need to. Will take some more pics this week.

Thoughts?

I'm in Takodana, and currently working on a Temple Guard for my first costume. This has inspired me a lot. What are you planning to do for your saber pike? I've found no one that sells an accurate Temple Guard saber from SCW.

For my saber, I am connecting two of the Saberforge Aeon Apprentice Sabers, and using the yellow dayblades:
