Hello all,
I'm starting a build thread, albeit toward the end (hopefully) of my build process here.
I put these three together for Star Wars Celebration Chicago but didn't get time to get anything submitted as I was missing a piece or two.
I have not had great luck with submissions and getting information has also been sparse. So I'm hoping I can get some feedback here.
So from left to right:
Exile Luke (I just saw that name today)
- I submitted this and got some feedback, all of which has been addressed.
- I do need better wraps. Looking for some help there. I have some leather straps but I've seen that people are dying Ace wraps and getting by with that. (That would stay up while walking a lot better.)
Crait Luke
- Haven't submitted anything on this yet.
- Same issue with wraps since I believe they are the same as the Exile boots.
- I have two different versions of the coat. One is velvet (pictured) which is very close to the texture and design of the on-screen. It's a tad shiny though. The other is a lighter fabric and is still pretty close. Again, pics tomorrow.
TFA Luke
- Right off the bat, the giant mistake is that my seamstress switched the colors of the tunic and tabbards. That has been corrected but I haven't gotten a new pic yet.
- I'm still working on the shirt with the 6" cuffs.
- My mechanical hand is not shown. I'll add tomorrow.
I'm planning on taking some more pics this weekend but if anyone sees anything please let me know.
Thank you for your time.
Mark

They are all looking good!!
What did you use for the Poncho & the Leather Jacket on the Exile??
And also, I don't know if you can easily get a hold of them, but I know that some folks are using WWII British army puttees for the leg wraps.

Thanks!
For the leather jacket, I got that from Cosplaysky. I had to add the grommet on the right side since it was missing that detail.
For the poncho, I picked up a rough, leathery material in the LA fashion district and made it myself, then cut it up and distressed it.
I haven't tried looking for the puttees. I'll give that a try.
Thx again.

PS: I can't get images to ever work so I included a link. If anyone has any tips to get that to work, I would appreciate it.

'right click' on the photo.
select "copy image location".
paste it into your post like this:

^^ (it should end in .jpg)
then put [img][/img] tags around it.
et voila :
Cheers! _________________

Definitely not velvet for Crait Luke. As you yourself pointed out, it's too shiny.
As for TFA Luke, the cloak is a bit too light. Give it a light dye bath and some weathering and it should help a lot. _________________

Did you dye toward grey or darker tan? And how would you recommend I weather it?

Some updates with my correct (but not weathered) colors.
Boots from Crowprops. Pretty nice but the wraps are still an issue. There's velcro on the boots and the back of the wraps but that doesn't help you higher up on the leg. Still trying to find a solution for this.
My hand. It's a little bulky but it reads really well at a distance and the kids really love it. It was also a big hit at Celebration. When I move my fingers the slots on the back of the hand articulate and it just looks cool.
Another:
And one more to prove that Luke is still worthy.

I'd say to dye it a taupe. Kinda grey-tan. And then weather it, in particular the bottom to get a live in look to it.
Great work. _________________
