I seem to really be struggling to find a decently nice pair of leather pull up boots for my pilot, anyone have suggestions?

Thanks

Engineer style motorcycle boots with the rounded toe. (Not the square toe!!!)
The top of the shaft should be straight across flat. (Not at an angle or have curves.)
Try to find a brand that does not have a large embossed logo on them.
The preferred overall height is 12 to 13 inches tall.
(11 inches tall was the minimum height required for approval, but I'm not sure if that is still the case. check the costume standards.)
The lower strap and buckle will need to be cut off.
The strap and buckle at the top of the shaft can stay (it's a functional part of the boot) but will need to be covered / bloused by the jumpsuit leg.

When it comes to cutting off the bottom strap, how are you making it clean and unnoticeable?

First I would recommend tucking at least 3 layers of masking tape under the strap as close to the stitching as you can get, to help protect the boot leather from unwanted cuts.
You can put some masking tape over the outer layer and edge of the piece that wraps around the heel as well to protect it.

Then use an exacto knife and try to cut the strap as close as possible WITHOUT cutting into the boot's stitching.
Make multiple shallow passes, and slow, deliberate movements until you cut through it.

I know that there have been many pilots and RFT's that have used Engineer boots for their costumes.

I sent them a message, interested in buying the Blue Squadron package deal, but haven’t heard anything in several days

Keep an eye on their store. They open for one week a month, and then close to fulfill orders. I purchased a pair of Hoth boots from them this year, with no issues. A friend of mine has the pilot boots and they are really nicely made. I plan to upgrade to those in the near future.
