Hi All... researching the Packing Gown and depending on how feasible I find it, may move forward... may not. Wanting some feedback as I travel this road. I spotted the outfit on Cosplay Sky, and have found it will not meet standards, which I'm fine with... but now I'm already down that rabbit hole.
So in looking for patterns to use and alter, please let me know if Simplicity 8768 (https://www.simplicity.com/simplicity-storefront-catalog/patterns/costumes/adult/simplicity-sewing-pattern-8768-misses-fantasy-costumes/) will work for the vest and Simplicity 3809 (https://www.simplicity.com/simplicity-storefront-catalog/patterns/costumes/simplicity-pattern-3809-misses-renaissance-costumes/) will work for both the sleeves and the skirt.
I also believe this fabric will work for the sleeves (https://www.joann.com/casa-dahlia-matte-satin-fabric-solids/zprd_16429326a.html#q=casa%2Bmatte%2Bsatin%2Bharbor%2Bmist&start=1)
Another gal redoing her outfit posted fabrics for the vest and skirt... so considering those options as well.
Thanks in advance all for your input and assistance. |

The first link doesn't work, so can't speak to that, but the joann fabric doesn't look right for the sleeves in the picture. Looks too solid.
The pure silks does look good for the skirt though, and I think the vest fabric looks good as well. _________________

I think that pattern will require such monumental alterations you might as well make a pattern from scratch. The sleeves are fitted, the packing gown sleeves are billowing. The skirt is also strictly A-line to the waist, where the packing gown skirt is box pleated to bring the fabric in around the waist.
I hope you won't hate me for saying this, but you'll need math and possibly a lot of mock ups for this.
I'm not sure what the best material for the sleeves would be, but it's rather thin/light and has a pattern to it. Perhaps someone who has made this costume can tell what they did for theirs. _________________

Oh goodness no I don't hate you for being honest. That's part of this whole process is getting feedback. Researching is the fun part. Trust me I have a Boba... this project certainly does not scare me nor does trial and error. But yes, someone who has made it would be extremely helpfull. The pattern was merely for a starting point on the vest portion. |

I wish you good luck with it. It's a beautiful costume, but Padmé's wardrobe is not known to be easy to make. And yes, the research is part of the fun; I completely agree there! (I actually spend way more time researching than making costumes). _________________
