How have people been hiding the magnets on this connector? Or have people been using a ring magnet? _________________ B-wing Pilot - Jedi - Resistance X-wing Pilot - Temmin "Snap" Wexley

I've glued a disc magnet flush into the recess on the face of the adaptor that clamps onto another in a plate on other side of the chap fabric. |

Mine didn't come with a recessed area so I'm wondering where it should be...
And so you didn't use the thin ring that the model comes with, if I'm understanding? _________________ B-wing Pilot - Jedi - Resistance X-wing Pilot - Temmin "Snap" Wexley

I don't have any to hand. I'll try to sort one out when I get home.
You're right, I didn't use the ring that comes with the model. I traced around the foot of the adaptor onto styrene, then around a disc magnet in side that circle to form a ring. I cemented that ring onto another same size circle to make a round plate with a disc magnet sitting flush on one one face. I stuck a few cube magnets onto the back to increase the strength of the pull. |

Awesome, thank you. So the big silver disc in the hose greeblie is a larger magnet, correct? That's a good idea. I was trying to figure out how to do it. _________________ B-wing Pilot - Jedi - Resistance X-wing Pilot - Temmin "Snap" Wexley

So I just printed out the file. The adapter looks great however the peg that fits into the hose has no friction with the main adapter. Am I suppose to use something else (magnets, glue, etc) to actually connect the hose to the adapter? _________________ "If you want some take some,

I found this too and modelled a simple plug to fit into the rubber hose snugly and a smaller diameter lug to fit into the adaptor better. |

These should fit snugly into the printed ring as well as the hose elbow itself, depending on your printer. Maybe your slicer/printer decided to fill in the recess because it thought it was an error? It also might just be support material that needs to be removed. You don't really need the ring, but its nice if you have the magnet that it's supposed to be used for. Any rigid backing with a magnet in the center that keeps the fabric up against the edges of the outer diameter of the hose adapter should be fine.

This might be because of printing tolerances. If It's a bit loose I'd recommend hot glue or some other adhesive with decent volume to fill the gap. Worst case, drill a hole down the center and stick a screw through the center I guess _________________ Jian-Ming Chang
