So I did a Temmin "Snap" Wexley and generic TFA briefing room pilot of this costume, but I decided that I also wanted to do some TLJ variations of it... So that's what I'm doing! I've currently got the ground variation completed and I'm working on the full TLJ X-wing pilot variation with the fully-lit chestbox, boots with inner padding, TLJ-style blaster holster and so on. The boots are done but you can't really see them in my pictures yet.

Anyhow, here are some pictures of my ground version, which I've been calling the "Crait Reinforcement Trooper", or CRT, for lack of a better name.

Yes, I'm using an A280-CFE rifle in sniper configuration, which is a modified Hasbro "Jyn Erso Deluxe Blaster", but it's the most "trooper-like" blaster that I have. And I figured, well, the base on Crait was an old Rebel base, and the Resistance forces were in a hurry so they probably would have used whatever weapons they found lying around if they didn't have enough, and maybe they found a Crait of old blasters somewhere in the base.

...Crait of blasters. Get it? Crate, Crait? I know, hilarious. Laughing

I've been wanting to do an alien costume of some type for ages so I decided to finally do one with my pilot, but I started with something more simple. I went for the relatively unknown ('cause I'm a weirdo like that, that's how I roll Cool ) species of Teevan, which were a species of near-humans from the planet Teevan, who were essentially humans with silver-hued skin and black hair.

Once the costume is approved I plan to just wear gloves with the alien version while trooping just to make my life easier. I found some neat military gloves that would go well with the costume.

This is a Teevan...

It dawned on me hours after posting this thread how to adjust the vest to expose the bottom layer more... and it's so simple that I can't believe that I didn't think of it before. So... on to that. Laughing

Where are the hat, goggles and bandolier from? I remember seeing somewhere it was a brittish military ammo pouch, but can't seem to find the model.

Well, here's what I've found about the dismounted Crait pilot

The bandolier is either a (choose one)
-Sten 7 magazine bandolier from WWII
https://www.ebay.com/itm/WWII-BRITISH-ENFIELD-GUN-7-POCKET-AMMO-BANDOLEER/273625809186?_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIM.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D20190212102350%26meid%3D6d511e4a3f2a48b9a35f2fa30df358a2%26pid%3D100012%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D2%26mehot%3Dlo%26sd%3D312521526729%26itm%3D273625809186&_trksid=p2047675.c100012.m1985

-Sten SAS assualt pack (a lot of troopers use this, it looks modified.)
https://www.ebay.com/itm/BRITISH-STERLING-SAS-ASSAULT-PACK-BANDOLIER/122893784676?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649

The hat is a trooper style hat in olive
or a olive hat with a steep bill similar to the imperial officer, and a folder up wing in the rear(but without the front panel of the imperial hat)
Pilots are with and without a hat but, the bandolier ones wear it, and it appears to be a trooper style.
The wing appear to be hidden the goggle strap a lot so its hard to tell if all hats have it.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/BDU-Fitted-Army-Cadet-Military-Cap-Hat-Patrol-Castro-Combat-Hunting/251664648949?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&var=550565255340&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

Weapons-
EL-16 in either carbine or HFE config (stock or not) I've seen pics of both used.

The dismounted pilots seen with bandoliers use the el-16, but there may be other examples. Its really hard to say if they use the HFE or the carbine form.

DH-17. This is the rifle config first seen in Rogue one. I saw at least one dismounted pilot with one, but they are all over the place. This is confirmed on a pilot with an olive web sling.

There is also a pistol other than the GLIE44 that I can't quite ID. Might be a pistol version of the dh-17.

Either of these can be seen with or without a sling. (These types are sold as shoulder bag straps, not rifle slings from what I've seen)
The sling is olive in color and has lobster style clasps with rectangular hadware for the strap.
Or is dark brown leather with bronze looking hardware of the same lobster style. It is rivieted rather than sewn.
Again hard to say if the bandoleer guys are using a sling.

This is the closest sling I found to the olive one if you want one. The hardware is more weathered in the movies.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B079HV7LHM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Goggles are optional, but the close up shots I've seen they all have a yellow lens. The frame looks coppery/brown with a brown surround or grey frames with greyish brown surround. The strap is gray and attached to the frame with small bits of dark brown/weathered black leather through slots at the edge of the goggles. The lenses are independent and not connected by brace.

These are the right shape, and if you remove the nose piece and change the strap to gray with a leather holder and thread it through a slot in thead of attached behind, they very cloese to the right ones. You probably would need to bondo over the seam where the side mount can swivel to be 100%
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Retro-Vintage-Aviator-Pilot-Goggles-Motocycle-Eyewear-Cruiser-Glasses-for-Harley/223211578043?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&var=522009639794&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

A gray scarf also appear optional.

Chest box and legs flares are not required.(but pictured at times as part of a normal pilot with rifle.)

Flight suit and vest is worn at all times as is the ejection harness.

Sidearm (GLIE44) and holster is optional

Gloves are optional (Though the only one I saw with them was alien)

So far the correct cap hasn't been identified. It was suspected that it might be something like the one in this link, but I've only been able to find them in small.
http://www.armynavydeals.com/asp/products_details.asp?SKU=KLfgecap&catid=1467&ItemName=Dutch%20Army%20Fatigue%20Cap

The cap color is actually "coyote brown". Smile I found the cap on Amazon but I can't remember what it was called, and it's not listed in my orders anymore. I'll see if there's a tag on the inside that says anything.

I'm not sure what bandolier the one with the shoulder pad is, but the one I'm wearing is indeed a Sten seven pocket ammo bandolier. This is where I got mine...
https://www.epicmilitaria.com/british-sten-seven-pocket-magazine-bandoleer.html

I wasn't able to identify the accurate goggles, after a lot of searching I couldn't find anything that matched. The goggles I went for where steampunk/motorcycle aviator style goggles like these... https://www.amazon.com/CRG-Sports-Vintage-Motorcycle-T08STG/dp/B0799Y3QVL/ref=sr_1_30_sspa?crid=2V8T079UYQUJQ&keywords=yellow%2Blens%2Bmotorcycle%2Bgoggles&qid=1553665660&s=gateway&sprefix=motorcycle%2Bgoggles%2Byellow%2Blens%2Caps%2C195&sr=8-30-spons&th=1 You want ones with silver frames, tan padding and yellow or smoke gray lenses. Dark green lenses might work, too. I removed the little metal bridge over the nose (it just slides out). I also replaced the black elastic band with a white one and added a buckle on it is seen in the movie.

I don't think that's the right hat. This is the best image of that style of hat I've seen.

The front headband may just be covered up, but look at the top stitching. Its a 4 panel top. Granted it could be modified. Plus I think its a different fabric. The photo is slightly fuzzy like its a fannel or wool cap? That one has a weave pattern. Deffinitely closer than the cheap trooper hat I linked though. It has the soft bill.

This photo is why I said copper is appropriate frame color too. They color is grayer in trench shots though. There might be multiple styles in hats/goggles as well.

I wish I could have pulled stills out of TLJ while I was researching, but itunes blacks out when I go to take screen shots. :\

Anyhow I think there are two styles. This photo shows them off pretty well, though not on pilots

The trooper style in the foreground and the sloped bill with wings in the back

Also here the 3rd and 4th riflemen are wearing the two style. You can sell the different slopes and bill sizes.

The pilot with the SAS pack here is wearing the troope style I think

The other pilot, check out the bill profile of the trooper turned to look at him. Very short. I think he's wearing the sloped bill/wings style. Then the pilot looking down its impossible to see detail, but the trooper style has a larger bill and it looks like his hat has a very small bill. Likely the winged style here.

I agree that there looks to be all sorts of different variations and different parts. I, too, noticed the difference in goggles. Some goggles appear to be more of the aviator style with the squared lenses like I have, others are more rounded.

The lenses on these goggles are definitely more rounded, and they're yellow.

The lenses on this one look more squarish like I have. It's hard to tell what color they are, though.

In this picture the lenses are rounded again and appear to be green in color (though it's hard to say for certain, it could be the hat underneath altering the color) and the frames look more silver.

As for the cap the one in this picture is much more rounded and with a solid bill, more like the one I linked to (that is only available in size small). It's also fairly tall.

The picture you posted with the troopers, the woman off to the right appears to be wearing a fairly standard coyote brown BDU cap, which is closer to what I'm wearing. The guy in the back has a completely different cap that is much darker. Like you said, it looks like there might be "wings" on it.

Chances are the hats and goggles were just random things that were found around the studio and so there is probably a fair bit of variation.

Congrats!

Does that mean a standard is in the works? I have all the bits now, might as well submit too and see what happens.

Thank you both. Smile

I have no idea about any possible standards being in the works. Anyone is free to write some up if they'd like. Smile
