Hi all -

I’m working on upgrading my “Snowbunny” costume. I won’t have it RL-approval ready by Celebration, but I’m hoping to at least start moving that direction.

My latest hurdle is the belt/pouches/holster. I was so convinced I’d found the path with craft mesh and vinyl, but... that’s been a bust so far. I may try it next with double-stick tape (glue was just too darn messy), but before I sink more money into what may be at best a half-baked result, I’m looking at other options. As much as I love wearing costumes, it seems I’m neither a seamstress nor a craftswoman. 😕

In short: would this belt be RL approvable for this costume?

Thanks!

Possibly. The only thing I see missing is the flap over the holster, but that could probably be added fairly easily. Maybe either asking the seller is they can do that modification or ask for an extra piece of material to do it yourself. (So you are sure it matches). Smile

Thanks for the feedback! I asked the seller and she's willing to accomodate me for a bit more $$, and offered the following options:
Quote:
No problem! It would be possible yes but it would cost more as the pattern would have to change quite a lot. Looking at the picture it seems like the blaster goes in from the side instead of the top? Would you want the holster to be functional like this? If so that might be a bit harder as I'm not sure about sizing.

There are a few options we can go with,
You can have it exactly the same design as the one on my listing but with a flap instead, the only thing about this is my design of holster is quite 2D instead of 3D like the pouches, and doesn't have sides like the pouches, so that might be a bit of a pain when using it as a functional holster, and when the blaster was inside the flap wouldn't close, but that would be the cheapest option, only £10 more.

You could have the holster more 3D like the pouches, with sides and a flap, but it would open at the top like the pouches, this would be a little more expensive than the first option. It would mean that when the blaster was inside the holster, the flap wouldn't close. This would be £40 more.

Or you could have it more 3D like the pouches and have an opening like in the picture but that would require a vast pattern change for the flap to be able to close with the gun inside and would be about £50-60 more.

Any recommendations? Thanks again!

I would be more expensive, but the third option offers the most accurate version. With the others you might need to upgrade anyway later on, so you would save money in the long run by using extra now. (If you can afford now, of course).

Thanks! I went ahead and sprang for the full modification/upgrade; looking forward to seeing how it comes out. 🙂

My next question is the boots. I had a perfectly serviceable pair of white low wedge heel boots... which my beloved kitty decided to use as scratch toys. 🙀 Would these boots below (with some slight modifications) be acceptable?

I know wedge heel is preferred, but I can’t find a pair of those for the life of me that aren’t super slouchy. 🙄 Heck, it’s hard to find ANYTHING anymore that doesn’t have some slouch to it.

Those looks like they should be fine. Smile Just add the trim to them.

And bad kitty! No using boots as scratching post!
