I am not a judge but I am approved with both versions of this costume so I can tell you what I worked with.
I would highly recommend a double knit. I used a ponte roma for my first attempt and while it worked, it was a bit sheer for my liking and wasn't quite thick enough.
I believe this is the exact fabric I used. It's hard to tell online but pretty sure.

The width of your belt should be close to your sizing. I believe mine is 3 inches wide and secures with industrial strength Velcro in the back.
The pouches are a tricky one. I have seen a few ladies who were approved with the Rubie's pouches. You might ask an LCJ if they will work for you. Others have used shampoo bottles and molded leather/vinyl etc to the bottle for the correct shape.
I was able to find her Naboo blaster on Ebay for around $10. You might want to try that if your print doesn't work out.
The shinguards that you posted may work but will probably need to be modified. I have seen some ladies use ice hockey knee pads and those seem to work really well and stay in place. The boots could work but you might be able to find better (and more comfortable ones) on Amazon or a similar site. I found a great pair at Target and just covered them with extra leather I had laying around and they worked great.
Good luck on your build. Excited to see your progress. _________________

Thanks for the tip! I saw a few girls recommend ponte roma for the top and bottom, but never worked with this kind of fabric before. I'm not exactly sure what double knit is called in German but I gues a trip to the fabric shop and ordering some samples first will be a good idea.
(I found one fabric with 95% rayon and 5% elasthan that was called heavy rayon jersey. Maybe that could work?

I just checked out the Rubie's pouches. They look quite nice (at least as a base)
One stupid question tho: How do I figure out the LCJs? Is there a list somewhere?

I will keep my eyes open for a more comfortable pair of boots! |

As to the judge list, I believe this is kept current: http://www.forum.rebellegion.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=92747
For your leather, it looks to me like it's a few shades darker than the shirt and pants, but pretty close to the color of the pouches.
I like the waffle fabric you found. That looks like it will work really well.
To my eyes, the boots you found look like they would need too much modification to be worth it, unless you wanted to use them as a base boot and then build shin guards separately. _________________

Thank you so much! I will dm one of the judges and ask about the rubies pouches.

Guess it's really easier to look for a different pair of boots than buying the ones I posted. |
