Thanks guys! I submitted this morning so *fingers crossed* that I can get approval by tomorrow. I hate squeaking by like this...

Here's a quick teaser:

The combs I got for my headpiece were too small and it was trying really hard to slide off my head, so I went out and got some more. I'll stitch those in tomorrow before I troop.

Staring at my photos, I think I'm going to play like the movie version and use some hidden hooks and eyes to tack the vest to the dress, so it lays more nicely.

You've already heard this from me, but you did a gorgeous job here. Mr. Green It looks fantastic as-is, and once you've made your few final tweaks, it will be absolutely impeccable (as is your usual). Love it!

Hey! Late to the conversation, but is this version of Padme's senate dress approvable?

Yes it is! Anything that we have full front and back references for is approvable. You just have to document your work and share reference images if we haven't written standards for it yet.

Jumping in on this. I know that the Forces of Destiny costumes were ruled to be "easy versions of the film costumes" so those are not allowed but Clone Wars Padme costumes are fine? I'm about to start mocking up one and would hate to put the work in and be told they aren't allowed anymore. References are definitely there though so that won't be an issue.

Clone Wars: Mini series and The Clone Wars costumes are approvable, provided they live up to the usual reference rules. Smile Often they are completely new costumes, other times they have clear inspiration from the movies/are new versions of what is seen in the movies.

Hi! Jenna, I just wanted to say that I've read through this thread multiple times - what a lovely job! You really did spectacularly with this outfit.

I was wondering, how do you deal with animated costume interpretation for outfits that do not have a seam drawn in a certain area, but the shape of the outfit would be impossible without it when interpreting for real life? In your own build, you decided to add a seam in the sleeve so that it could give you the look you wanted. I guess my question is more general, maybe with using darts and such... or even, how could I "cut up" a coat or bodice perhaps (back, sides, front maybe) in multiple pieces if there doesn't seem to be a seam there in the animation itself, but it might be necessary to get a certain effect or for fitting purposes?

I suppose my question is regarding making these decisions when you would like to approve an animated costume.

I appreciate any thoughts and advice, thank you!

Thanks so much!

Generally, if a seam is there in the animation, I do my best to include it, but animated/drawn costumes are notorious for not having practical closures and seams. So, the actual shape has to take priority. I just try to not make the seams too visible. I often use invisible hems too, for that reason.

Generally the judges are looking for fit every time they judge a costume, so where seams and darts are needed to create that fit, as long as they aren't excessive, shouldn't be an issue.
