Hey fellow star wars friends!

I got a few Questions about my Barriss Cosplay.. I want to join the italian garrisson in March for a con in Milan.. they told my friend (who I am going with), that it is easier to get me onto the list, when I have an approved Costume.. The costume judges didnt reply to my questions, so I am trying my luck here now..

Only thing I could know of, is my barriss...
Well, I also started a Jawa, but I am really having trouble with that damn mask...

But questions for my barriss!!!!

I altready got a few things and Cosplayed my Barriss already…
I saw the requirements for the approvement and was wondering About some of the Points…

1. The cloak

It says: „Blue raised textured or patterned cloak with large hood made of non-shiny material. The cloak should have a collar that wraps around neck and a front yoke. The front of the hood should loop up to attach to the bottom of the collar. Cloak should be long and reach just above the ground.“

I got a slightly shiny Cloak, not as accurate as in the movie, but the Actress of Barriss Offe, Nalini Krishan loved my Cosplay (Her words were: „Oh my gosh! You look Beautiful!).. Yet I would love a more accurate Cloak.. I was asking myself if you have an idea, where to find a better pattern for the cloak without drawing on it too much, since I am not really talented with it..
I found a shop where they sell a fabric called „Barriss offee“ and was wondering if this one would get approved.. https://www.spoonflower.com/de/stoffe/3602801

2. The Boots
It says: „5. Calf high or knee high black boots. Boots should have a heel but no higher than 4cms.“

I am a Rider and I got some of those ‚Short‘ boots at home, are they high enough for the approvement? They cover the ankle but not the calf. I have issues with wiiiiide calfs, no boot is fitting.. so I only got those riding boots...

3. Lighstaber

On etsy I found a shop that sells a „Shaak Ti“ saber Hilt.. i got to konow, from Nalini, that they all (Shaak Ti, Aayla, Luminara and Barriss) used the SAME hilt in the movies.. So could it be possible to get this hilt approved?

(it is listed as number 6)
Basically it is not a toy…

I try to give in some pics of the Outfit I have right now!

Barriss, power of the force, Lighsabre lended: http://prntscr.com/kx5gmu

Please let me know, what you think!
I am happy for any advice!

Hi Smile

I know the pattern on my cloak was hand stitched to be more accurate. The front " Collar" piece on the cloak is a separate piece that I attached Velcro to it. I got my boots on clearance at Target. I know sometimes you can get lucky at a thrift store and find good boots for a low cost. If you would like you can pm me your address and I can send you detailed pictures of my costume if you think it might be helpful.

They are sometimes called a Clan saber design, many in Episode II did have the same basic prop. The difference for Barriss compared to some of the others is she didn't have the brass part and longer emitter, but for approval that one should be fine.

The fabric, though not a perfect match is probably acceptable. Barriss has a unique design to the hood. Matching that is important.

For the boots a photograph would help. I'm not sure I understand.

I understand. I am a costume Judge for Barriss often and have helped make several.

The important part about spoonflower is to get it printed on the right material; you don't want something too thin and limp here. Smile

If you get that fabric and pattern a new cloak to match the movie one, then you'll be very close!

I'm not sure about your skirt, but I don't think it has the flare from lower thigh?
Top looks good from what I can see and you have a nice buckle.
