I just saw that the CS for the Yavin Operations Officer (Rogue One) went online. Why in the world would the admins use a photo of Colonel Bandwin Cor? His rank is too high and he wears a Captain Antilles style jacket. That is so strange.

Well it is time for me to start my WIP. I have a pair of black Chelsea-style boots that a will fit with a pleather anklet-style cuff. I am making an olive belt out of PLCE webbing. I just finished taking of the golden stuff from the roll pin belt buckle. I hope to have some photos by tomorrow or the day after at the latest. I am going with a dark brown pair of BDU pants that I can also use for my signals intelligence technician.

The strangest thing happened to me today. I was lazy so I ordered a pair of Tru-Spec BDU pants in the size 5XL from the USA via EBay instead of sewing them myself. By the measurements of the size chart it should have been a tight fit. Oh Boy, I was into a surprise when I picked them up from the German customs. They were at least one perhaps two sizes too large. I have not had a pair of baggy pants in years. For the first time in my life I am actually hopping that something shrinks in the washing machine.

I am still looking for a good pattern for the shirt and the jacket that I can alter. I would love to hear some suggestions.

I finished my belt today. I really dislike the PLCE webbing that I bought. It is too stiff. It was very difficult to work with. The PLCE belt that am using for the signals intelligence technician is much softer. I am not looking forward to making my resistance X-Wing pilot belt with this PLCE webbing. Is there a way to make it softer?

I also shorted the pants. I ran into a minor problem. The belt loops are too narrow. The belt does not fit through them. I will have to use the fabric that I took of the legs to make new belt loops.

I decided to go with the second belt option. My RFT ANH was approved with a rectangle belt buckle so I had to order a new belt with octagonal silver buckle for this costume. It arrived today and it looks very nice. I will also be using my DH-17 and my RFTs holster. I will start making a mock-up shirt very soon.

I have been working on my anklet cuffs. I made a paper and foam template. I have also ordered some black leather which arrived yesterday. It is very soft. I will add a foam part the make it stiff enough.

I also received a pair of 3XL rothco BDU pants in the color coyote which are not as baggy as my brown 5XL Tru-Spec BDU pants. I will take some photos after I have shorted the legs.

I just finished the basic anklet cuffs. Know I have to figure out what I want to use for the greebies on the right cuff.

The rank badge for my officer arrived today. I chose the color green for the Rebel Alliance Army service and the rank of Commander or Major, if you wear it upside down, so that I could make different costumes with the same rank badge.

These are the two officers, especially the one the top because he wears a RFT belt, I have in mind when creating my version of the officer.

I will not have to make the shirt from scratch. I finally found some button-up work shirts in the right color and size that I can alter to make my shirt. Here is a photo of one of them. They have the optional yoke and they have the double row of stitching in most places. I will have to remove the cuffs due to the fact that the sleeve are very long. I will use parts of the second shirt to create the bib. I hope to finish the shirt and anklet cuff by the end of June. Then I will start working on the jacket. I hope be able to finish the whole costume by the end of September.

Finally, I found some end caps for my ankle cuff greebies. I had to use a pipe with a 16-millimeter diameter instead of one with 25-millimeter diameter. I painted everything by hand using Revell colors. The weather did not permit using spray paint. I am waiting for better weather so that I can spray on some clear coat.

I am going to use a pair of khaki BDU pants from Tru-Spec in the size of 3XL that I was able to buy at a German military shop instead of the chocolate brown BDU pants from Tru-Spec in the size of 5XL that I bought in the USA via eBay. The smaller pair looks a lot better due to the better fit. I still have to shorten the legs. I hope to be able to do that this afternoon.

I have been working on my shirt for the last two weeks. I made a new collar from a second shirt. The left side of the front of this shirt used to be the back of the second shirt. I also took off the cuffs. Now I just have to add the second layer off the bib and shorten the sleeves.

I kind of freaked out when I looked at the new photos of my shirt. I could not see a difference in color between the two shirts with the naked eye when I worked on them. I hope it is only visible when photos are taken indoors with a flash. It could be a problem for my signals intelligence technician costume but it should not be one for this costume. Everything that will be visible when the jacket is open has the same color.

I think I have found a pattern that I can use as a starting point for the jacket. I hope to be making my first mock-up as soon as my signals intelligence technician finished and approved.

The shirt is almost finished. The only thing that still needs to be done is sewing on a lot of snap buttons.

I finished the shirt this morning. I really do not like sewing on snap fasteners by hand.

I like how the shirt looks from the front. I do not like the way the back looks. It is probably a good thing that the jacket will cover the excess fabric on the back.

I really need to learn how to alter patterns or how to draw them myself so that I could make the shirt fit better. I guess that is another thing for my to-do list before I start making the first mock-up of my jacket.

I think when the shirt is tucked in you'll like how the back lies much more. Smile

For when you start working on your jacket, this tutorial for action backs pleats may be useful:

Yes, you are right about the shirt. Yesterday, my husband took photos for my application as a Signals Intelligence Technician and it looks a lot better when tucked in.

Thank you for sharing the tutorial for action backs pleats. I think that will help a lot.
