Event: Solo: A Star Wars Story Midnight Screening
Location: Palace Cinemas, Canberra
Date/Time: 23/05/2018 22:00 to 24/05/2018 02:00
Weather: Cold, crisp and clear; winter is certainly coming
Legionaries:
Bear, Theodore - Blue Squadron Pilot
Boer, Shaun - Tusken Raider
Steele, Sair - Kashyyyk Trooper
501st Legionaries:
Anderson, Paul - Reserve TIE Pilot
Armriding, Tony - Scout Trooper
Maolcathaigh, Matthew - 181st Fight Wing, Dress Uniform
Smith, Teagan - Imperial Staff Officer
Wranglers:
Armriding, Amy
Mission Report:
We met up early in the evening with our 501st friends and after the requisite round of hugs began to kit up.
Some of us had the pleasure of attending the Solo premiere in Sydney the week prior and were bursting to see the reactions of those who had not. But that had to wait.
Once we were all ready we made our way around the Cinema complex for group photos.
It was clear that this screening was no episodic Star Wars event, but for those true fans braving the cold it was worth it to have their pictures taken with some of their favourite characters.
With only a trickle of movie-goers the event felt more of a reunion of good friends, which only made for an enjoyable evening.
As midnight approached we began to kit-down, purchase our snacks and make our way to our seats for our viewing.
For some of us it was just as good, if not better, the second time around.
Mission Status:
Success! Despite not having the largest crowds, we were well-received and made the night for all those in attendance.
The Palace staff were helpful and accommodating as always with a promise to invite us back for the next adventure. |

Yes, disappointing numbers all around it seems. Brilliant movie though.
Always fun to troop there. Looking forward to the next SW installment there.
Thanks for the report.

Thanks for sharing about your night owl escapades. I am glad you had a good time and the public were happy to get selfies. _________________ *******************************************************************
