I hand build my Enfys nest costume! I am cleared and I want to show you all how I made this costume.

This thread will detail the steps I took to build this monstrosity.

Let me start off by saying this was the most intense costume I have ever made. I currently have 55 ish (I stopped counting) approved costumes between the Rebel Legion and the 501st.

HEAD AND HAIR

*I do not have much info on how I did this..

* I used a eyeliner pen for my freckles.
* I used super curly hair for the back.

When I did the top I twisted my hair and pinned it back. I used to have dreadlocks so I also pulled out some of my old oil I used to keep it back in place.

* I used a professional quality spray on my hair AND the curly piece to keep the color consistent.

*I try to not do wigs. I dunno they always look fake to me, If I can fake it with partial fake and partial real I always try Very Happy

I used this!
I relaxed the hair using my blow dryer.

I changed the color of it by using paint. I strayed it directly onto the hair

UNDERSUIT

Testing size
Do not tailor it yet. Wait and do it as you work.

Cut off bottom leg
Now unseam the leg

Unseamed!

MAKE YOURS MORE ROUNDED SHAPED!! SHOULD NOT BE SQUARED OFF. Make it a U!!!
Put this just above the knee

laid out flat

Cutting deeper. Adding the V shape in the crotch

Seaming up the V. Remember 3 stitches on everything!

V shape all stitched

removing pockets and unneeded zippers

Draw where the 3 stitch lines will go in chalk or wax

stitching seams

All done with seams on front chest

Start reseaming the legs!

tailoring the crotch to fix me better

Making triple stitched seams

sewing straight lines never fun

Removed the cuffs on the arms

Now unseam the arm and make the same U shape as on the leg

Cut this cuff open for use later

Attach the cuff to the side of the leg

What it looks like attached

all ready to go paint it

using tape mask off the areas you dont want painted.

Using mix here coat the suit USE BROWN INSTEAD OF BLACK

Now remove the tape

I hot glued the knives permanently into the leg sections

CHESTBOX

Made from layers of Cintra rapidfused together.

Working on the chestbox.This is before the circle got added

Added circle. Testing details compared to original

Testing bottom necklace pieces

STRAPS

Add velcro to suit on the back in these locations.
Shoulder right
shoulder left
lower back

Attach velcro to your straps

test velcro on suit

Checking front

making the pad that goes behind the chest box

Lay pad on and pin into place

Laying chest box on top to see if all works together

Testing again before adding bottom hooks to box.

I made it with thick cintra, a pipe and some screws

Boots are still kinda two toned here...eww

using cintra and puffy paint i made the greeblie holders

CAPE

Cut your fur in this shape

Recolored with spraypaint with color as seen above

I took 6 yards of orange and 6 yards of wool and I sewed the top together. i just ran a line down it.

I folded the edges of the cape in and ironed and glued it down.

Heres the cape way to wide.

Cut a strip of faux leather. Heres how thick mine is. I think its about half an inch to thick on mine. Maybe make yours 1.5 inches?

Use ONLY Gorilla Glue Hot Glue. This stuff ROCKS! I couldnt find stitches so I glued mine on.

I affixed the linen section on with my sewing macgine

Sew the cape parts together like so...

On the back of the suit I affixed 3 clips. This will keep the cape on me.

FAN AND BLADES

I made them out of layered THIN cintra

Adding holes to fan blades

Testing out the blades on Long rivets.

Using Painters tape to mask off edges to paint.

Getting into all the sections with paint

Mostly painted

Affixing to the bracers

GLOVES

Walmart Gloves

What Youll need

Seam rip the sides

Cut some leather strips from a lined faux leather and I puffy painted on lines

Cut a stop sign shape then cut a circle inside that using leather

ONLY CUT ONE CIRCLE INSIDE (DO NOT DO IT ON BOTH AS SEEN HERE)

Sew the circles onto the gloves

I filled in the gaps using puffy paint to see how it looks

DRYING!

Adding lines to the gloves using puff paint

Added lines to the trim part of the leather to match the other lines

*Glued the lines onto the gloves using Gorilla hot glue and Rapid fuse

*Reseamed the sides of the gloves by turning the gloves inside out and sending it through my sewing machine

*Painted the one top grey of the circle

*painted the other top brown with tan edges on the top of the glove

*Painted messy white on the top of the glove fingers.

Reseamed the gloves

DONE!

BRACERS

I used 10 oz Hide

Then I measured my arm and cut to my size I needed out of paper.

Then I cut out in leather.

Cutting strapping

You need Rivets and you need a punch
*Punch at the locations seen above

To make holes larger use a sharp screw driver

Add Rivets. When you add the rivets make sure that you WRAP the shape around your arm.
DO NOT AFFIX STRAPS ON A FLAT SHAPE!!

Both done.

Did a piece of cintra to hold the fans atop.

TABARDS

Started out with a almost black thick cotton 6oz

Cut two 60 inch pieces of fabric
Cut them approx 15 inches each.

Fold in and iron.
Mine are to wide. I recommend 2 inches less

Flat

Fold over

Iron the end

Iron stitch witchery inside

Use chalk or wax and draw the lines as seen

Started with these colors

Painting the base with a chunky brush

add some white!

To paint the light part

....painted the white line
NEVER do full white or full black! Very Happy

More colors to paint!

More brown! I didnt like the other. it was to red

Tried a red on it.. hmm maybe not

repainted in orange

Some plastic pipe and some bolts for the ends

Affixed onto the tabards and added wire

Using .25 in thick cintra I made the hooks and drilled a hole in the end to stick into the pipes

Using Rapid fise to keep the hooks on the rods

All done and drying
