I don't think it is gabardine. I think it is a heavy and thick wool. The visual dictionary pictures for both TFA and TLJ are pretty good. This is also a good pic...

The TFA coats have a melton finish- which means they are heavily fulled and have no visible weave.

Hi Kristina!

I've been searching for fabric and this is the closest i got so far (color and texture wise) any thoughts?

edit: forget it, just googled Melton Wool, this is no where thick enough haha.

Will go back hunting with the other Legion mates next week Smile

Edit 2:

found this on aliexpress. looks like the right fabric but wrong color ya. Probably can somehow dye it.

Found this cashmere on a local fabric shop. Owner took photo and sent it to me. Lighting and camera was bad, will take better photo when i go there personally after the new year.

Texture wise it looks so much better ya.

Now that I have a pair of PoZu boots, I might as well do this uniform Smile

I've started collecting samples, and I think I like these two wools:

The dark brown would be for the trousers, the olive of course for the tunic. I'm hoping to work up a pattern soon, after I get more caught up on X-wing suits & such.

Hi guys,

This is my Admiral Statura WIP, the cut of the bottom of the jacket is wrong (not curved), the only fabric that i found locally with the right texture and color is cashmere...

Ahh the hunt for the right melton, what I found was different places list it as different things.

Melton, wool, jacketing, coating, cashmere.... always get a sample particularly with the synthetic stuff and sometimes it can be too thick and look bit fleece like. Also the colour with wool can be quite deceptive in pictures.

I got lots of samples of different types of melton I'll post a pic a bit later.

I will be making the TLJ fleet officer jacket.
