A Rutian Twi'lek Jedi from the planet Ryloth. Traditional Jedi robes with the Twi'lek twist – more fitted with fewer layers for freedom of movement. Neela does not favor the large sleeves and does not wear an undertunic. However, in deference to the Jedi Order, she does wear a robe when assigned to the Temple.
Lekku and earbud prosthetics by Pam's Twi'lek Creations. Finished in a base layer of Mehron skintone liquid latex, followed by hand painting and airbrushing in Reel Creations Body Art Inks in shades of blue with details in white, pale pink, pale flesh tone, purple, and vein (blue-green).
Makeup / body paint by Reel Creations; custom mix of Blue #4, White, and Reel Dead (a very pale flesh tone) with cheeks and knuckles stippled with Royal Blue. Additional cosmetics used for a softer, “natural” look.
Head wrap of dark brown faux suede (painted fleece!), chocolate brown suede and caramel-colored distressed cowhide. Silver forehead ornament with organic swirl design.
Lekku “bracelet” of brown leather with silver and bronze colored metal studs.
Fitted tunic of (unknown) natural fiber/spandex blend in dark brown. (No undertunic.)
Tabards of dark and medium brown faux leather with embossed foliage design.
Apron of caramel-colored distressed cowhide with painted brown border.
Obi of caramel-colored cotton crinkle gauze.
Fitted trousers of caramel-colored cotton and spandex twill.
Traditional dark brown wool twill robe with shoulder tucks (but no seams), back pleat, and oversized hood.
Dark brown leather utility belt and working leather pouches. Covertec clip and 8 food capsules (2 each gold, copper, silver, pewter).
Distressed brown field style leather boots with straps.
Machined aluminum saber with added O-rings and weathering, covertec button, and “Artic blue” blade to complement Neela's skintones.
Costume notes: There are several examples in the Prequels of fitted sleeves and patterned garments worn by alien/non-human Jedi females – Aayla (of course), Luminara, and Barriss. Even Shaak Ti wore a patterned “scarf” and beautifully tooled leather tabard.
Selected additional influences for Neela's costume:
Xiaan Amersu (comics)
Rapacious Malice (SW Galaxies)
Evil woman, but a style silhouette seemingly favored by Twi'lek Force-users.
Kalifa (Clone Wars)
Master Di (Clone Wars)
Pampy (TPM, AOTC)
Skin tones and lekku markings
A special thanks to Pam and the members of Twi'lek Celebration for their invaluable help and encouragement!
