Character/Costume Description

This light blue dress had been
worn by Padme Amidala Naberrie
in Episode II: Attack of The
Clones when she was
accompanying Anakin Skywalker
back to his home planet,
Tatooine to seek out his mother,
Shmi. Regardless of what had
occurred between her and her
young Jedi bodyguard prior to
the visit, Padme's compassionate
and empathetic nature willed her
to follow Anakin so that, he can
sooth his conscience and
intuition and at the same time he
would not betray the mandate
that was trusted upon him,
which is Senator Amidala's own
safety.

Right before Anakin left the Lars
homestead in pursuit of his
missing mother, Padme
comforted him & saw him off. As
she stood in the middle of the
dessert-like planet, the contrast
between her attire & the coarse
sands was inevitable. Even
though she had to disguise
herself as a commoner in fear of
her safety, her looks remained
pristine, with the light blue color
and the f-shaped designs on the
cloak which is also the simpler
version of the core Naboo
symbol, signified her
senatorial/once royalty status.
As she remained vigilant when
Anakin left, she was like a
soothing soft glow in the midst
of rough golden dune.

This attire had been constructed
using a non-shiny material in
light blue color, separated into
three separate sections; which
are the inner wrap top with the
hood, the cloak and the skirt.

The inner wrap top covers the
body until just under the ribcage,
with the midriff exposed and it
has fitted sleeves and a drapey
hood that covers the back and
the shoulders is sewn to the top
and the hood ends in point with
bead works using translucent &
black colored medium-sized glass
beads.

The second part of the costume
is the cape, placed right on top
of the shoulders and the effect
comes from under the hood as it
wraps over the fitted sleeves of
the inner top in a wing-like
manner.

The back of the cape flows down
until slightly few centimeters
above knee-level and the cape
also comes to a sharp,
triangular-like point, with an f-
shaped pattern, stenciled from a
different light gray colored
material, attached along its
edges and scattered on the back
of the light blue cape.

The light blue full length
straight-cut skirt gathers in a T in
the front with several even
drapey folds on the hips. In the
top center of the skirt, there is a
triangular pattern of beading
using the same type of beads as
the ones on the hood.

While the headpiece has scroll
work silver colored wire with
swirly designs and it fitted at the
crown of parted hair and
encircling loosely curled
hairbuns. While the loosely
curled hair is caught up low on
the nape of the neck and
cascades down back of the
hood. The hairstyle that Padme
has when she was wearing this
costume, somehow resembles
her future child, Princess Leia in
the Original Trilogy, creating a
cross-resemblance between
both mother & daughter and this
happens to be the muse that
had driven me when i decided to
work on this costume. On a
personal note, this particular
costume depicted the indirect
connection of these two strong
women in the Star Wars saga, in
specific, the Skywalker family.
